So when the new L'Oreal Lumi Magique Base Primer hit the market recently I had a bit of a gut feeling that it might be a more affordable version of the famous MAC Strobe Liquid.
Both products are lightweight liquids with a pearlescent finish, texture wise they both feel really similar, perhaps the Lumi Magique being slightly more liquid like - but this could be partly down to the face that the MAC one is a little older. The main difference (which isn't huge) is in the shimmer finish as you can see in the pictures below.

Overall, the only difference is the tone of the finish - if you're not fussy about the shade then the cheaper version will appeal but if it's the pinky tone of the MAC Strobe Liquid that you want then stick with the classic as they aren't identical.
On a slightly separate note, I've only tried the liquid version of the MAC Strobe range - what's the Cream like? Are they that different?
MAC Strobe Liquid available from the MAC website (£22.50)
L'Oreal Lumi Magique Primer available from Boots (£9.99)
L'Oreal is PR sample. MAC bought by me.

They both look great!

I recently bought the L'Oreal Lumi Magique to mix with my Double wear light which leaves me looking incredible dull but mixed together it looks lovely. I also prefer warmer foundations as any sort of pinky toned face product makes me look like ive been attacked by a blusher so after looking at these swatches i'm very glad i didn't shell out for the MAC one! :) x
ReplyDeleteThey both look great, I don't think that LOreal one has made it to the US though yet!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to know that there's a cheaper alternative available, even if it's not identical. :)
