I actually bought two of these, one for me and this one that I wanted to giveaway (I couldn't decide between a little giveaway or a bigger one where I added lots of bits over time...but now it's Friday and I feel like sharing the happiness, I've decided on another little giveaway for today... but currently planning a bigger one soon!)

imPRESS false nails (plus giveaway)

One of the highlights of a recent Feb Glossy Box was a set of imPRESS nails. I do love to keep the odd pair of falsies close to hand, for those 'I need to do my nails but don't have time to paint them and wait for them to dry' moments... I love the purple/grey shade that was in my Glossy Box, very similar to the bloggers-favourite from OPI/Sephora 'Metro Chic'.

IMG_6543

The nails press on really easily, they have a sort-of gel-cushion as the sticky bit - you simply peel the back of it off and press on. No faffing around with glue or separate stickers and they lasted almost a full five days before I decided I wanted to take them off as I fancied a colour change.

My only little niggle is that the sizes were a bit big for my fingers, both in width and length. I tried to fit the smallest ones to my fingers but they still felt a bit on the big side

The lovely bods over at imPRESS have given me four sets of these nails to offer as a giveaway prize on the blog. If you want to win the four sets (designs in the first picture) then all you need to do is leave a comment below and make sure you follow the rules:

You must be a follower on GFC, email or Bloglovin (let me know which below)
UK only
Must be over 16

Closes Sunday 15th April 12pm GMT

Prizes provided by PR. Glossy Box received as PR sample.

Jurlique Joy of Giving plus WIN!

I'm over on Jurlique.co.uk sharing my loves from the Jurlique range and talking about the joy of giving (tis the season and all).

I have to say my number one Jurlique product that I am absolutely loving (and getting a lot of use out of at the moment) is the Herbal Recovery Gel - it was an absolute saviour for my alcohol-dehydrated skin after  my Christmas party last week, without it I would have been a bit of a feeling-sorry-for-myself mess.

For Christmas, Jurlique has a selection of hero-product gift boxes, all combined with themes - my favourite is the Herbal Recovery Set (£100) which contains my much loved Herbal Recovery Gel, plus the Herbal Recovery Night Cream and the Herbal Recovery Eye Cream. There are also some rather lovely little sets on the cheaper end of the scale such as the Jurlique Lovable Skin Lavender Essentials gift set (£29) including the Lavender Hand Cream and Love Balm.

Since it's the season of giving and all, I also decided that I wanted to share some lovely Jurlique with you all by giving away one of their lovely gift sets - and the best part, you can choose which of the sets you want!

Check out the gift set listing on the Jurlique Website and comment below, completing the following sentence:

This Christmas I would love to find the Jurlique [name of gift set here] in my stocking because...

Paco Rebanne Black XS Pour Elle: WIN!

My boyfriend isn't all that high-maintenance when it comes to his skincare routine, but he does love a bit of   aftershave/fragrance. One of my personal favourites of his is Paco Rabanne XS - it seriously smells good enough to eat. It's one of those fragrances that when he wears it, it makes me go all giggly.

What I didn't really click on was that there's also Black XS Pour Elle... and it's pretty delicious. Normally I wouldn't say that a male fragrance would give you the best indication of what it's female equivalent would be. But with Black XS you can definitely pick up similar notes to the male version.

The name seems totally appropriate when you read that the heart notes include black violet and base notes include black vanilla... it also includes pink pepper berries and patchouli. I definitely consider this a perfect evening scent - and I do feel a little bit like a rock star with it on. But saying that, I am more than happy to wear it in the day because it dries down to a nice musky smell that isn't overpowering like some nighttime fragrances can be.

Overall, I really like this as the female version of the yummy male version of Black XS pour homme. This will be my nighttime fragrance of choice for the festive season!

WIN!

What's more exciting than the fact I've found a lovely new perfume... is that you can too!

I have two bottles to give away (just in time for xmas too...) - one female fragrance and one male.

All you have to do to enter is:

Comment below and tell me one thing you have on your wish list this Christmas...

Terms and conditions:

- UK only
- Must be a follower of the blog via GFC or facebook
- If under 18 make sure you have permission from a guardian
- Comp closes 5pm Monday 12th December 2011 (GMT)
- Winner chosen at random
- Make sure you include a way I can contact you if you win
- Must provide address details within 72 hours of winning or else a new winner will be chosen

Make sure you check out the Black XS Facebook Page and the Be A Rockstar website for more info on being a Black XS rockstar!

WIN tickets to blogger/social media conference with Handpicked Media

If you are a blogger in the UK then it's highly likely you will have heard of Handpicked Media - a network of mostly lifestyle focused blogs and websites (largely fashion/beauty) that are linked together as a network that promotes the value and influence of bloggers and online writers.

I have been a part of Handpicked Media since the first year I started writing A Beauty Junkie in London (2009 FYI) and have seen it grow. Now, in 2011 Handpicked are hosting their first large scale event - Handpicked Media Gets Social (#HPMSocial) that will bring together bloggers, brands, and agencies into one place where they can all learn and share their advice on best practice and their experiences over the past few years as blogging has grown so rapidly into the huge phenomena that it is today.

I'm pleased to have been invited to take part in the the beauty panel, during the afternoon session along side Jenny Dickinson, Acting Editor of Elle Magazine, Fleur from Fleur De Force, Emma  and Katie from The Beauty Button and Lee from The Grooming Guru. We will be discussing topics such as disclosure, driving traffic and how to deal with exclusives and embargoes.

It's set to be a really interesting day where there will be chance to learn a lot at the same time as having a good natter with fellow bloggers in person rather than over twitter!  Plus there's the added bonus of the beauty bar, where you can get a bit of a beauty product fix!

As part of being on the panel of Handpicked Gets Social I have the chance to offer up two tickets to come along on the day (worth £75 each) each ticket includes full access to all presentations and discussion panels plus breakfast and lunch plus of course the beauty bar.

WIN!

If you would like to win one of these two tickets then send an email to editor@beautyjunkielondon.com and I'll pick two winners at random on Monday 7th November. Please note the ticket does not include transport or accommodation!

Of course you can also buy tickets for Handpicked Media Gets Social via the WEBSITE.

Handpicked Media Gets Social is being held on 21st November at RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) 66 Portland Place, London W1.

Jergens Feel Fantastic Experience: Week 2

So I've now come to the end of week two of the Jergens 'Feel Fantastic' experience - with the week's focus being on relationships.

So I decided to do a post on my top 10 things to do with my favourite people and make a promise to myself to make sure I do them all as often as I possibly can!

So in no particular order....

1: Watching 80's & 90's action films with the boyfriend (Die Hard marathon? Yes please!)
2: Having a few glasses of wine and lots of gossip with the girls
3: Catching up with friends from Uni
4: Chatting beauty to the level of train-spotter geekiness with blog friends!
5: Eat good (and some not to good, but still very tasty) food with anyone that I like!
6: Teach my nephews naughty jokes
7: Shopping days with mum
8: Long chats about pretty much anything under the sun with my Dad
9: Singing along to the car radio (terribly) with my little brother
10: Shopping with myself (after all, if you don't have a good relationship with yourself then what's the point?!)

When you think of your favourite things to do with your favourite people, what's the number one thing to come to mind?

Post a comment below to be in with a chance of winning of of 6 bottles of Jergens Naturals I have to give away!

T&C's:
- Must be over 18 (or over 16 and have permission from parent/guardian to enter)
- UK only

Jergens Feel Fantastic Experience (plus giveaway)

I'm currently taking part in the Jergens Naturals Feel Fantastic Experience, where Jergens have challenged UK women to put their products to the test (yes, they really are that confident that Jergens can really transform your skin).

Plus, read on as I have 24 bottles of  Jergens Naturals to give away over the challenge!

As part of the Feel Fantastic Experience Jergens recognise that feeling good isn't just about a moisturiser and have invited participants to explore what makes them feel fantastic across various themes:

- Fun & Recreation
- Money
- Relationships
- Health and Wellbeing

They have invited everyone who is taking part (you can too) to use the 'fantastic-o-meter' on the facebook page to rate how they are feeling.

So I'm now a week into the challenge - I've been using Jergens Naturals Ultra Hydrating Moisturiser since last Monday. My skin is feeling pretty good, nice and soft. The moisturiser is light but absorbs quickly and smells lovely.

So my skin feels good, what about the rest of me? Well, with the theme of 'Fun and Recreation' I wanted to have a think about what makes me feel good and came up with - spending time with the girls! So I spent Sunday having some quality time with two of my favourite people, LW & LG. We cooked a yummy prawn & chorizo risotto, watched Scream (nowhere near as scary as first time around!) and played with nail varnish. All in all, some fantastic girly time and very much needed.

If you want to win one of the SIX Jergens Naturals that I am giving away as part of the 'Fun and Recreation' week then just post a comment below with your favourite thing to do for fun!

Make sure you leave a contact email/twitter so I can reach you if you win. The six winners will be picked at random, check back next Monday as I'll be giving away another six then too!

T&C's:
- Must be over 18 (or over 16 and have permission from parent/guardian to enter)
- UK only

Check out the Jergens Naturals facebook page for more info on the feel fantastic experience.

Product provided as PR sample.

Brandalley.co.uk WINNER!

The winner of the brandalley.co.uk giveaway is....Claire/sweetcakebess@hotmail.com who guessed £276. The amount that the order I made would have cost at full price was.... drumroll!

£277.50

What a bargain & congrats Claire - I will drop you an email to arrange your prize. Happy shopping!

About the order.

It arrived about a week ago and overall I am pleased with most of it. No, delivery isn't the speediest, but I was warned of that and guess it is the price you pay to make such a saving. It arrived by Parcel Force, which I was pleased with as other couriers are a pain in the bum for where I live. It was all packaged nice and securely - with the smaller, beauty items being wrapped in bubble wrap and the shoe boxes being secured with elastic bands.

The one thing I was a little disappointed with was that one of the items I had ordered (Benefit Creaseless Cream) was not included in the order, because it was out of stock. I went on to find out that the £7 it cost had been credited as a voucher to my account, which is ok - but I wasn't that happy with the fact that is wasn't made clear/flagged to me at all. It was simply removed from the order and refunded.

But overall, a very decent service - if you love a bargain then definitely keep an eye on Brandalley.co.uk or sign up to the daily alert emails that let you know which sales are launching. Warning: It's addictive!

Brandalley.co.uk beauty (and non beauty) bargains: Win £50 voucher

I have to admit that whilst I have been a signed-up member of Brandalley.co.uk for a while, it isn't somewhere that springs to mind when I think of bargain beauty shopping online. The idea behind Brand Alley is basically that it is an online destination for designer sales. But with a bit of a twist, in that different brands are launched at different times so there is never a guarantee as to what you might find on the site. This means that the site can be a combination of shoppers frustration, and addiction!

On one hand it's addictive - checking online each day to see what they have on sale. But it's also frustrating as once a product is gone, it's gone. There is no coming back into stock and whilst I'm about to tell you what I bought, if you look on the site today you will find a totally different selection of products. In fact, I have just checked and there is a rather fab sale of DuWop make-up and a selection of salon-style products on at the moment, with upto 50% off the DuWop range. When I made my purchase (more details in a moment) there were some great bargains to be had from St Tropez & Benefit (plus some non-beauty ones from Ravel...)

One thing I want to note is the delivery side of things. If you are looking for something for next day delivery then Brandalley isn't the place to go, it's a place for bargains but not necessarily speedy ones. My delivery is due to arrive at some point in the next month - but when exactly is anyones guess! I think delivery time is what you have to compromise on to get the deals.

So, about my purchase - I was invited by the Brandalley peeps to make a purchase on the site and then run a competition for you guys to win a £50 Brandalley voucher, to spend on anything you like. The trick being that to win, you have to guess how much money I saved on my order. So here are the details of what I bought & how much they were (but not the RRP, that would be cheating)..

Benefit Slippin n' Dippin Creaseless Cream - £7
Benefit Lipstick in 'Do Tell' - £6.50
LA Miracle (see British Beauty Blogger for info) - £13
St Tropez Perfect Legs - £9.50
Rochas Pink Nail Varnish - £3
Ravel Leopard Print Peep-Toe Shoes - £30
Ravel Brown Court Shoes - £31

Total price: £100 (+£4.95 delivery)

But... how much WOULD that have cost, if bought at full RRP?

If you want to win a £50 Brandalley.co.uk voucher then comment below with your guess/estimate and the closest to the total to win (if more than one gets close to the total then winner will be picked at random from all those with the correct amount).

THE RULES:

- Must be over the age of 18 or have parental permission to enter
- UK only
- Giveaway will close at midnight on 25th March
- Please leave an email or twitter handle for me to contact you on if you win
- Winner will be person closest to correct total that the items above would have cost at full RRP, or chosen at random from all closest if more than one.
- Winner will be contacted directly after the close of the comp, if I don't get a response within 3 days a new winner will be chosen.

Sure & Dove Black & Blog event: win a goody bag!

A couple of weeks ago I went along to an event being held by Dove & Sure deodorants. Now whilst deodorant is hardly the most glamorous of beauty related products to write about, they are actually something I quite like to cover on the blog - as I like to write about everything beauty related from the basics to the luxe make-up collections. Especially since, to me, deodorant is just another part of the world of fragrance and the scent of a deodorant is something just as personal as a persons perfume choice.

Anyway, I digress - the event was a 'black 'n' blog' evening, based around the launch of the two deodorants that promise no white marks. Nothing that new or revolutionary for a deodorant brand to claim, but pretty essential all the same. To be really honest the appeal of the event for me was the Dove brand, which I really do like. I adore the scent of the original Dove products.

The prize selection!

As part of the evening there was a 'luxe lotto' to win a selection of three rather exciting prizes - a black Swarovski ring, a black patent Vivienne Westwood handbag or a fabulous Vivienne Westwood dress (black of course). On arrival each guest picks up a raffle ticket, and I chose number 1. Who ever heard of ticket number one winning in a raffle?! Well it did and I was over the moon! I was the third winner chosen so got to take home my first ever designer dress, this beauty:

A beautiful, classic black wrap dress with a quirky Vivienne Westwood twist. The only teeny tiny downside is that when I tried it on, I discovered I sadly did not have the sleek, statuesque figure of the model pictured and so the dress fell to my mid-calf rather than knee. Yep, that's how much shorted I am than a model. Depressing. But the lovely PR who organised the event has been very helpful & sent the receipt so I can exchange the dress for a size/style that suits me. Regardless of the shock discovery that I am not a 6ft catwalk model (ahem), I am still beyond over the moon to have won a beautiful designer dress. It will be treated with so much love that the boyfriend may get a little jealous.
There's me with the yellow bag of happiness next to me!

The style booth at the event.
Post-event, I have tried both deodorants out and can completely vouch for the fact that there are no white marks to be seen. On the fragrance side I do still prefer the Dove over the Sure as find it a little softer/less noticeable so less likely to interfere with my perfume. But again, this is a personal choice thing.

But, more exciting than talking about deodorant.. you can win some! I have a goody bag from the event to giveaway, that contains a selection of both Sure and Dove deodorants plus some rather lovely 'black' themed make-up goodies. Including the following:

Rimmel London nail varnish in 'Black Pearl'
Black eyelash curlers from Topshop make-up
MAC Zoom Fast Black Lash Mascara
Bourjois Smokey Eye Trio

All you have to do to enter is comment below with the answer to the following question:

Q: What three beauty products would you take to a desert island?

THE RULES:

- You do have to be a follower to enter the giveaway
- Must be over the age of 18 or have parental permission to enter
- UK only
- Giveaway will close at midnight on 10th March
