Guest Post: The London Lipgloss

Today I have another fabulous guest post for you, this time from the adorable Zoe from The London Lipgloss. I absolutely love Zoe's blog, she's got such a fantastic style of her own and her personality just shines through. Definitely worth a follow!

iFabbo event summary and an iFabbo FOTD

I'm sure you've all seen plenty of footage of the iFabbo event that took place a few weeks ago at the delightfully charming and vintage lovin' Powder Rooms in Soho. Now, iFabbo is a relatively new concept that aims to bring together fashion and beauty bloggers for small  (but fun) 'conference style' networking events where companies can pitch to bloggers who then try the products at home. So a bit like a PR-blogger service but face to face - which is always lovely.

I popped along with my best Lily, and we met with Emma, Emma, Michelle and Lou. Once we got there we also bumped into Fleur, Fei, Charli and Sophie which was also lovely!

Some of the brands there this time round included Murad, Paul and Joe and The Makeup Store.

Each brand had a little chat (I was very happy to see the lovely Zoe from Murad again!) and told us about their products, ethos and brand background information. We all got to network with other bloggers, PRs and of course the awesome iFabbo team who all took time to chat to us and snap some photos!

After the event I had a little play around with some of the products and made a really easy wearable daytime look:

These were the products I used:

t-b: collection 2000 cream puff | paul and joe eye gloss duo | the makeup store eyeshadow

So to create this look I used the Makeup Store eyeshadow as a soft highlight underneath my brow bone, followed by the light side of the Paul and Joe cream duo all over the lid, and the purple side of the Paul and Joe duo underneath my lash line. I popped a bit of mascara on, and finished with the Collection 2000 cream puff on my lips! Done!

Here's a little close up of each of the products:

First up the Makeup Store:

Is it just me or does the M logo on their packaging just remind you instantly of Lina's blog header?! That was all I could think about when I saw it for the first time! I really wanted to love this shadow, but the shade given to me was just a bit of a weakly pigmented shade, and I didn't really like the way it sat on my skin. It just wasn't nearly as bright as I wanted it to be at all. I still reserve judgement though as their shadows were lovely and some of the ones I swatched at the event were so pigmented and gorgeous!

The Collection 2000 cream puff:

This is one of the weirdest lip products I've ever used, it applies like a lipstick but feels like a cream blusher? It feels amazing though and it's so lovely to wear - it's not sticky like lip gloss or drying like lipstick. Seriously impressed with Collection 2000, they totally made a gem of a product here.

Paul and Joe Cream Duo:

This is the ultimate lazy girl's friend. Or busy girl, however you want to look at it ;). I LOVE this product. Seriously love. Paul and Joe's packaging is gorgeous, the shades are gorgeous and above all it holds all day. Serious,  very minimal creasing. Um, what? Yes. Yes indeed. I love the purple shade, I've always loved a bit of purple on my eyes and this is no exception. I'm definitely going to be buying some more Paul and Joe after this, big love!

Overall, I like the Paul and Joe product the most because it just seems to be such an easy way of applying eyeshadow.

What do you think of my FOTD? Do you use any of these products and which one is your favourite?

Love, Zozo xxxx

Disclaimer: All the products and cake featured was given to me at the iFabbo event for consideration courtesy of their PR team. The cake was polished off with Emma from Milkteef and Lily from Lily Pebbles as we legged it through London back to the tube!

Thanks Zoe for your post! Very jealous of the cake...! Don't forget to check out her blog http://thelondonlipgloss.blogspot.com/

Guest Post: Primps and Preens

Whilst I'm away on my holidays, I decided to invite a couple of my favourite bloggers to do a guest post, first up is the lovely Rosalyn from Primps and Preens. If you don't already follow her blog then you really should, she's gorgeous and really knows how to rock bright lippie. So without further ado, I'll hand over....

Hi there lovelies! I’m so excited to be guest posting on A Beauty Junkie in London which was
the first blog I started reading a couple of years ago and is still one of my favourites. I was
thrilled when Jen asked if I’d put together a little guest post so here goes!

I thought I’d show you guys the makeup combination that I’ve been loving at the moment. If
I can’t rely on the sun to shine and give me a glow then I have to turn to my trusty make up
stash instead!

On the recent grey days I’ve been reaching for....

L’Oreal True Match Foundation C1 Rose Ivory
Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer Light
L’Oreal Glam Bronze Brunette Harmony Bronzer
Benefit Posie Tint
Bobbi Brown Rose Shimmerbrick
MUA Clear Mascara (used on my brows)
The Body Shop Super Volume Mascara
Sleek Peachy Keen and Rosette Pout Paints

It’s a pretty simple look but I love the bronzer/blusher/highlighter combo. Using a liquid
blusher like Posie Tint keeps the look really fresh and the Shimmerbrick adds a stunning glow
over the top.

I haven’t come across any highlighters that come close to Bobbi Brown Shimmerbricks. I
always think they give an expensive glow to any makeup that I wear with them (I also have a
now discontinues Sandstone one) and I’d love to have a few more in my collection.

And of course I’ve jumped on the Sleek Pout Paints band wagon too. So far I only have
Cloud 9, Peachy Keen and Rosette but I’ll definitely be picking up more as I love being able to
mix up unique shades. In these pictures I’m wearing a mix of 2 parts Peachy Keen to 1 part
Rosette which is a great summery combination and perfect for a casual look like this.

Despite the grey skies, my glowing cheeks have me feeling like it’s still summer- I love how
make up can do that. Have you been embracing summer makeup or are you moving on to
autumn trends now it’s cooled down so much?

Thanks so much Roz! Don't forget to check out her blog: http://sheprimpsandpreens.blogspot.com/

Guest review: John Frieda Precision Foam

Jen was looking for guest reviewers a couple of months ago (to test and write about the new John Frieda hair dye) and I said I'd use and review one. Why? Because even though I'm naturally blonde (kind of ashy medium blonde) I'd been dying my hair dark red for the last few years.

I actually stopped colouring it red at the end of last year and decided that I'm going to gradually dye it blonde. Nice (and perhaps a bit of stupid) thinking there! So I used a light brown dye - my hair definitely became lighter. Then I used a medium blonde one (Garnier Nutrisse) - again, it worked. My hair was getting lighter, woo hoo!

So by February this year my hair was sort of strawberry blondish. There were lots of golden tones (from dying it red) and I was desperate, oh so desperate to lighten it even more. I wanted MY natural hair colour back and when I saw Jen's post about John Frieda and that one of the hair dyes was Extra Light Beige Blonde, I immediately thought: get in! this is exactly what I need!

The box itself looks like this (and you can get the idea of what the Extra Light Beige Blonde looks like):

One box was enough for my shoulder length hair (my hair's quite fine though) and it was very easy to apply. Loved the foam and felt it was easy peasy to cover all the roots and ends with it. I left it on for 30 minutes and...

Well, I noticed my hair was looking kind of bright when I had this on my head, but I thought: that's OK, it just LOOKS like it, it won't actually BE like it once I've rinsed my hair. How stupid am I? Alarm bells should've started ringing when I saw the 'yellowness', I should've rinsed my hair there and then but hey, I suppose I had a blonde moment (ahem!)...

Anyways, onto the result... Here's what it should've looked like:

And the reality? I am sorry, I was so horrified I forgot to take a photo but my hair was yellow. Kind of mildly beigey yellow. This hair dye definitely worked but erm, I was after light beige blonde, not light yellowish beige hair!
I sent my boyfriend out to get me a semi permanent dark brown hair dye and re-dyed my hair (bad I know).

My verdict? You may have better results if your hair is medium blonde-light blonde (similar to what you see on the pic above). But be very very careful if you have any golden tones!!! And perhaps using it after dying your hair red for years and years, is not the most sensible thing to do.

Yes, I had lightened my hair but the red was obviously still in there, somewhere.

I love John Frieda's shampoos but as for Precision Foam? Um, I might try it again one day. Either in red or brown or maybe, if I bleach my hair, then I might buy a blonde shade again.

Thank you all for reading!

xoxo
