Ytsara Massage at The Peak Health Club: Review

Pre-holiday I was very lucky to be invited to The Peak Health Club to review the Ytsara Massage. The Peak Healthy club is in the middle of Knightsbridge -just a stones throw away from Harrods and fairly close to Knightsbridge tube station.

From the picture below, you can see the large windows at the top of the hotel - this is the setting for the gym and entrance to the spa. I was shown around this area and have to say, the views are spectacular.

I was then led to the quiet and peaceful treatment room where I was given some herbal tea and allowed to get ready. Even as someone who doesn't drink tea - this was a nice and relaxing way to start the treatment.

The Ytsara Massage includes a range of treatments - I went for the full body treatment 'Nuat Namman Body Oil Treatment'. This uses a combination of a herbal pumice (a warm ball of herbs that's used to massage the skin) and oils to massage and soften the skin. With the general result of me being totally blissed out and left with beautifully soft skin.

The massage was adapted to my requirements (heavy on the neck and shoulder areas where I hold all my tension, more gentle elsewhere) which I like -it's good to know the treatment can be adapted to suit your needs, so you don't leave still feeling tense or like the massage is only half done.

To me, the main test of a good massage is if I feel totally exhausted afterwards - this means I've completely wound down and just want to sleep! So this was truly a good massage, I was definitely ready to sleep after this one! I didn't feel rushed or on a schedule at any point during the treatment - even after it started late due to a bit of a mix up over the bookings, the treatment was still for the full hour and half allowed for it - which I appreciated. As I've been in places before where they cut the time or make you feel rushed.

Overall, The Peak Health Club is a little oasis in London - just entering the hotel you feel like you have left London for another far more exotic country. The setting is peaceful and the staff are attentive and very knowledgeable - happy to talk you through the treatment in more detail if you like.

For more information please see the website.

Friday treat

Just a little Friday treat post-holiday...got my fix of June issue magazines, including a gorgeous freebie from Nails Inc with In Style.

There are actually three shades available... A nude/peach shade, a warm pinky/purple and this soft bluebell shade. This was the one of the three I really wanted so happy to have found it.

I also picked up Glamour, which has even my favourite monthly for about as long as I remember!

What's your Friday treat this week... Big or small?? Comment below or tweet me @beautyjunkieldn #fridaytreat

Holiday essentials

For some reason something went wrong with publishing this post... but hopefully this time will work! A little round up of a few of my beach holiday essentials...

A good bikini - there is really no way to explain how big a deal this is. A decent bikini makes the difference between feeling like a whale and feeling good on the beach or by the pool.

The bikini pictured is from the website Simply Beach and by the brand Vix. I mentioned this in a recent You Tube video too. The website is amazing if you are on the hunt for swimwear, they have all colours, styles, sizes, shapes imaginable. This particular one I chose is amazing quality, I can really tell the difference between it and my cheaper bikinis - the fabric feels better quality and like it will actually hold me in where I want it too.

Next on my essentials list....

Suncream and Aftersun.

I´d love to pretend I´m some sort of bronze goddess, but I´m not and I need all the help I can get to get a bit of colour. Plus I need a good level of protection to stop me from the dreaded burn. I will report back post holiday about how the products pictured held up!

Last, but by no means least - a good book (or five)

I´m guilty of not finding time for reading most of the rest of the year, but on holiday I plough through them! These are just a couple, I also have a couple of juicy crime novels and a token slightly intellectual one to get through.

What are your beach holiday essentials!?

*Bikini and suncream provided as PR samples.

Seven Dials, Covent Garden

Yesterday (Wednesday) I got to spend the day enjoying the sun and exploring a lesser-known side of one of my favourite London areas - Covent Garden. Instead of heading South to the market from the tube, I headed North to be shown around the area known as 'Seven Dials'.

Starting at the Seven Dials monument, where seven streets all feed into a little roundabout...giving the area it's name. Then heading down Monmouth Street to discover some of the retail treasures...

Starting with Sceenface - any beauty junkie's paradise. A whole host of amazing beauty goodies, ranging from amazing false lashes, palettes with every colour under the sun to prosthetics and fake facial hair. Plus a selection of brands that aren't always easy to get in the UK - Embryollise skincare and Ben Nye for example.

Next, we stopped at the quirky accessories store - Tatty Devine to check out their wares. My personal favourites include the perspex earrings and 'Gin' pin. Gorgeous stuff - although not sure I was quite brave enough to rock the large perspex lobster necklace that I spotted in there!

Next was on to Gilda's Tryst - also known as heaven. I totally fell in love with this place - if you're looking for unique jewellery then you really need to pay this treasure trove a visit. The jewellery and clutch bags were stunning - one pair of earrings in particular are now firmly top of my lust list (the pink and turquoise ones below) - it was love at first sight.

Next was on to Miller Harris, fragrance heaven. Miller Harris is a brand I've always been familiar with, but only had limited experience of. This was one of the highlights of my afternoon in Seven Dials - I met James, who really knows his stuff - he picked out a series of fragrances that I absolutely fell for on first sniff (so much so that I think they deserve a whole separate blog post). Really impressed, I now want my flat to look and smell like the inside of the Miller Harris store.

We also made a little stop at Orion, a boutique for the brand that is also stocked in Topshop - lovely vintage inspired dresses and quirky accessories. I'm loving the leather and metal bracelets...especially the white for Summer.

Then we made a stop at Neal's Yard Remedies - a Covent Garden institution of natural beauty and wellbeing goodies. I was treated to a lovely relaxing hand massage whilst I was talked through the history of the brand and a bit about their latest project - working to support British Bee keepers.

If you're in the area, definitely head to Neal's Yard, not just for this store - but just to soak up the atmosphere. It was a rainbow of colour -  also, the Monty Python crew was formed in the building above the Neal's Yard store...random fact for you.

The last retail stop on the tour was the Shu Uemura boutique - the only free standing Shu Uemura shop in the UK. I love Shu Uemura already, but it was lovely to get to spend some time with the make-up artists there who created a gorgeous day time smokey eye for me using golden browns that made my eyes really pop. I loved it. I took some FOTD shots when I got home so will include these in a separate post, but there's a little sneak peak of the shades used below.

Last, but by no means least we stopped at PIX for a quick cocktail and some tapas nibbles. The food was gorgeous, all on display on the counter and you just help yourself - each of the sticks are either long or small, to indicate the price. Your bill is then worked out on the number of sticks you tot up. Each plate varies from around £2-3, and the few bits I tried were delicious. Totally recommend the cod fritters.

This is just a small snippet of the things to discover in the Seven Dial's area - it's really worth a wander. If you're a tourist in the area, head up here and look around rather than to the crowded market - it's far more genuine London with more unique and interesting stores/coffee shops and bars to explore - plus a nice selection of mainstream shops too.

Friday Treat: Turquoise

Little bit of a turquoise theme to this week's Friday treat, partly because the sun was shining, it was a gorgeous sunny Spring day and partly because I have an unwavering love for the colour turquoise.

When I first spotted this purse I knew I had to have it, love the shade, the metal corner details the quilting effect...everything. Plus I think for £16 it's not bad value either.

IMG_6568

Then as I was heading to pay I had a little gander at the beauty section, every time I write about Topshop makeup I can't help but remark at how well they have done the whole range - the packaging/branding and the shades are all so spot on. Very lust-worthy.

So I picked up Pool Party, a shade I first spotted on the nails of Lily Pebbles from What I heart today (check it out, one of my favourite blogs) - it's a lovely bright turquoise that looks more amazing on the nails than in the bottle.

You will be able to see a proper swatch of this later this week...when I also share more about how deep my obsession for turquoise nail shades goes. It's getting a little out of hand. But until then, I hope you enjoyed this week's Friday Treat!

p.s Everyone should have a Friday treat :)
