Clarins Spring Shadow: Desert Blonde

A couple of weeks ago I spend a lovely day with my Mum doing a few of my favorite things – shopping, eating and chatting. Part of the day involved doing some serious bank account damage in House of Fraser at the Clarins counter. Clarins is one of my Mum’s favorite brands – she LOVES Eau Dynamiste with a passion and wanted to stock up on a few other bits.
Personally, I find the counter-girls in departments store a tad too aggressive on the sales pitch side, but Clarins wasn’t bad. They stayed back when we said we were browsing and then paid attention when we had questions to ask – the ideal balance really.

Clarins also had a really good deal on, where you got a huge beauty-bag worth of freebies if you bought three or so products. Including the infamous Beauty Flash Balm (on my recommendation) the Eau Dynamiste Shower Gel and a couple of other make-up and skin care products.

One of the items she picked up was the new Spring colour eyeshadow – ‘Desert Blond‘. A very subtle shimmering beige-pink. Being the lovely Mum that she is, she bought me one too. The colour is VERY subtle, but a fantastic basic colour. The colour is so natural that I really struggled to catch it in a photo. The reason I like this colour is that it is super silky and light – it just glides on and stays put all day. An ideal base for other colours and for those ‘make-up free’, but not really days, oh – and it’s also good as a highlight.

Still, you get the idea – well pigmented for a neutral.

So, over all impression of this – a gorgeous colour, but not one to blow your mind. Would I have bought it for myself? Priced at around £12, I don’t think I would – but it is very pretty.
