Aveda Smooth Infusion UPDATE

This is a sponsored post

Having now used the Aveda Smooth Infusion range for a couple of weeks, I think it’s a good time for an update….

I’ve been using the range of four products (shampoo, conditioner, style prep and glossing straightener) every day since the visit to the Aveda Salon. I really like the shampoo and the style prep but will sit on the fence on the conditioner and glossing straightener for a little longer before deciding.

The shampoo is a hit with me – it smells gorgeous, fresh and lemony – but without smelling like Jiff. It’s a herbal lemony scent that I find really fresh and perfect as a wake-up call in the morning. A small amount lathers really well and rinses clean with little or no effort.

I have a bit of an issue with the conditioner, as I have quite dry hair – I don’t find that it’s really good enough and the ends of my hair have been getting gradually dryer and dryer over the last week or so. I have tried to counter this by using more product, which does work – but then I will end up with that annoying problem of running out of conditioner, whilst the shampoo is half empty! I’d like to see an intensive conditioner in the range so that could be used once a week for people with dry hair?

Of the two styling products, I like the Style-Prep the most, I find this definitely helps keep my hair slick all day and makes blow drying an easy process. I’m not one to faff around in the morning, I basically just tip my head upside down and blast it until it’s dry, which doesn’t really do much for keeping hair sleek (does add volume though). With style prep I find I can still do my usual blow-dry but it leaves my hair looking more groomed.

The Glossing Straightener is nice, but having tried styling with and without it and I don’t find it makes a huge difference to the end result. I expect that it has a more noticeable effect of darker hair colours, where shine is more noticeable.

So there we have my update, I’ll be doing a third and final post in a week or so (after a month of use) and I’ll be brave and include pictures of my own styling efforts and you can judge the results for yourselves – although there is a slight cheat in that I’ve had my hair cut yesterday, so it’s a different style than it was in the first Aveda post!

The style prep has been geared as a “leave in treatment” for dry/frizzy hair. All of the smooth infusion range is a good system for hair that tends to need just a little bit of moisture but is primarily concerned with frizz and heat styling. If your hair is getting dryer, may I suggest using the Dry Remedy Masque or the Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair which works kinda like the Style Prep but addresses more issues like damage as opposed to just dryness.

We sell A LOT of the Style Prep in my store so I’m glad to see that you like it! If you ever have any questions about Aveda products and how to use them please let me know!

I used to love Aveda, you could get fantastic deals on QVC, but then no more. It was the first *designer* hair brand I used and was delighted with the results, especially the colour range. Thanks for updating. Jan x
