Remington has recently launched a new collection of hair tools and accessories and I was invited along to have a styling session – which as someone who tends to keep things very simple with their hair, mostly due to never finding the time to experiment… I wanted to have a bit of a tutorial for how to create some different looks! The rather gorgeous Chris Appleton was on hand to show me a few tricks…
There are a couple of new tools – a straightener that’s designed to help protect coloured hair and the Perfect Waves for creating easy waves. Then the accessory collections fall into different trends too – the festival look, the glam look and the work look. Personally I found myself most drawn to the festival collection with bright colours, and feather details – just makes me wish Summer would hurry up a little!
For the tutorial Chris demonstrated how to use the Perfect Wave tools and then set me off doing it myself. I’ve used this style of tool before and whilst it’s easy to use – it’s not so easy to do so and always get the totally natural look as sometimes the spacing of the waves can look a bit too even and not natural. Chris showed me how to use the waver by holding for different amounts of time to avoid all kinks and waves looking the same.
The Chris got all creative and braided the front of my hair, pinning it back with a kirby grip with a silver and turquoise feather detail and tied it into a side ponytail – I loved the finished look, it felt comfortable but still totally different to my usual style. I’m not confident I could do the braid again myself but the waves and the side ponytail would be so easy to recreate. If you’re going to a festival this would be the ideal way to make one hair style last for days as the waves stay in and the braid avoids any hair-in-face issues, plus clipping or tying it up can take your mind off how much it needs a wash!
The Perfect Waves Styler is £39.99 (available from Argos)
