I’ve always had a bit of a fantasy of myself as actually being a bit of a California Girl at heart – ok, apart from the fact my heritage is a cross between Lancashire and Scotland…which couldn’t be much further away from a sunkissed surfer girl. But deep down, I’m still convinced I could fit right in on the West coast.
Until a miracle happens and that US passport and ticket to LA arrives on the doormat – I have this gorgeous collection from Sisley called ‘California Soul’… and just look at the gorgeous blusher/bronzer/cheek beauty! Time to take a closer look!
I have to say the cheek palette is the most ‘California’ of the collection – rosey, bronzed, corally pink…gorgeous! With that perfect sunskissed glowing look that is associated with the Cali-girl look. Oh and it’s gorgeously smooth and silky – not a chunk in sight. No glitter either, shimmer yes – but no chunks of glitter.
Then there’s the two eyeshadows – both matte. One taupe ‘Velvet 23’ and one pale beige neutral ‘Linen 22’. The taupe is a gorgeous purple/grey matte – silky smooth again, and nicely pigmented. The paler linen 22 is slightly harder to build the colour up – this could be just on my pale skin or it could be just that it’s a sheer formulation.
Lipstick wise these two come in gorgeous silver bullet housed in a red velvet pouch. So they feel lovely and special to use. There’s a raspberry (shade 9) and a coral shade (shade 8) – with a bit of a golden sheen to them. The coral is a warmer toned coral that will be more universally flattering than paler toned corals that are all over. The raspberry red is a lovely shade for evening…now just to get the California tan to go with it all…!
Sisley is available from John Lewis.
