As much as I hate when Summer is over, in beauty-land, this time at the end of the Summer and coming into Autumn has to be my favourite. There are new colours and collections galore and as much as I love Summer brights I also have a major weakness for the grungy darker shades of the colder months. Which is why I’m loving the new shadows from NARS for the AW collection – a mixture of some muted brights and some more typical greys and browns for the season – plus one special multi-tasker…
There are four shades in the collection:
Yamal – soft brown/beige
Bavaria – A turquoise with a little bit of a shimmer
Kamchatka – A rich blue with a slightly purple tone to it
Namibia – a soft dove grey
A real mixture of nudes and colours, all done in a really wearable way – even the blue and the turquoise. Plus they can be combined, if you want to dull down the turquoise of Bavaria for example it could be blended with Yamal or Namibia to take the brightness off. Kamchatka will make a gorgeous twist on the smokey eye and look really great of auburn eye colours.
In typical NARS shadow fashion, they’re smooth, and really well pigmented – as you can see from the swatches above, these are single swipes of the colour. Pretty impressive.
My top pick from these quads has to be Yamal – not only is it a lovely easy to wear shadow for subtle eye definition but the pale blonde/brown matte shade also makes a really great brow filler. Not easy to find for blondes as often the paler shades lean too much towards the ginger end of the scale and have a bit too much warmth but this one manages to have just the right amount so that it looks natural and blends in easily – and doesn’t leave me with ginger brows. Plus, a multi-tasker has to be the easiest way to justify a purchase ever!
