5 Holiday Favourites

You can probably already tell… there’s a bit of a holiday theme going on over in these parts of the internet right now. Yep, that’s right – I was the geeky blogger who lugged a bag of products to test with me and some lovely beauty items to photograph on the beachy backdrop. But in amongst all the dedicated beauty blogger-ing I found a few holiday favourites that I wanted to share. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Lancaster Tan Optimiser Tan Oil SPF50 * Lancaster-beauty.com (around £15-20)

I already mentioned this in detail over on the sun cream tried & tested post I did recently. But basically this one keeps my skin soft, makes my pale skin as tanned as it will likely ever be but also (most importantly) means I don’t burn. I mentioned in the post that I do tend to spend most of the time in the shade when it’s as hot and intense sun as it was – but this still kept me protected in the times in the pool, sea or just walking between places. Love this stuff and will 100% use again.

Soap & Glory Endless Glove Hand Cream * Boots.com (£6.50)

This was a bit of an impulse airport purchase when picking up the biggest bottles of water I could carry for the flight. I always take a good hand cream on flights with me and whilst I technically already had one, this caught my eye. My hands are constantly dry (as I type this I’ve just applied an oil to them to try and reduce how parched they are) so anything promising intense, long lasting results is an immediate eye catcher. This one was a winner for me as it’s really creamy, absorbs like a dream and leaves hands feeling soft for about as long as any hand cream I have tried has managed. I think it’s the fact it says it’s a combination of cream and mask – it just does an amazing job on my super dry hands. Oh, and of course in typical Soap & Glory fashion it smells ace too. Shall be stocking up on large sized tube of this – a favourite well beyond holiday.

Ultrasun Face Overnight Summer Skin Recovery Mask * qvcuk.com (£29.64 – intro price)

I don’t normally like using aftersun products on my face, usually opting for whatever my current favourite moisturiser is instead. But this is something special – it combines many things I like. It’s hydrating and (like the Endless Glove) combines the immediate relief of a good moisturiser, with the longer lasting effects of a mask. Plus, you can sleep in it – so none of the faff of a traditional face mask. Just apply like a cream and let it’s work it’s wonders overnight. SOLD. This was my daily nighttime moisture product when on holiday and it’s awesome. Sun or no-sun, this stuff leaves skin hydrated and fresh and non-greasy too.

MAC Turquatic Fragrance maccosmetics.co.uk (£23)

About a week before holiday I took a little trip to Bicester Village (outlet retail shopping place about an hour out of London for anyone who hasn’t heard of it). One of my must-visit stores every time I go is The Cosmetics Company Outlet store, not because I need to stock up on anything really – but mostly because they often have the left over products from limited edition runs or products that have been discontinued and sometimes even classic favourites that it’s nice to have a back up of. One thing I’ve always spotted but never gone as far as buying is the MAC Turquatic Fragrance – I’ve smelt it before and always loved it, but then for some reason put it down and moved on. But when I spotted it here (at the outlet price of £17.25) I decided I’d make a little purchase and it would be the holiday fragrance for Jamaica. It reminds me a little of Davidoff Cool Water (one of my all time favourites) but with a little more edge to it. Plus the bottle is gorgeous and totally ticks all my ‘love turquoise’ boxes. If you like fresh and beachy feeling fragrances then check it out, very happy to have bought this little bottle of Summer.

Lotil Lip Care SPF30 * chemistdirect.co.uk (£1.29)

Another moisture-related love from holiday (can you spot the trend?!) this is another I started using before I went away and just had to take with me. It’s basically just a really solid lip balm product that instantly leaves my lips feeling good and was perfect for both a long flight and days in the sun. My lips are usually one of the first things to get dry (bar hands…which are basically always dry…) and that didn’t happen at all this holiday so big thumbs up from me. Sometimes it’s nice to just have a good solid product that works over one with the most fancy packaging and this Lotil lip balm is the perfect example. Plus it’s cheap as chips.

Am I the only one who is geeky enough to take a ton of products on holiday to test out?! No rest for the wicked and all that…!

I love Endless Glove – such a life saver when the hands are getting… prehistoric looking.

Having hand cream is soooo important when traveling. Especially if you’re taking a plane. I just recently started using the Soap and Glory Sugar Crush Hand Food and it smells amazing!!

Ooh this post made me feel all summer-y and excited for the sunshine! You do genuinely take beautiful photographs of your products 🙂 the hand cream seriously appealed to me though – I don’t always suffer from dry hands but more poor circulation means that I always need an excuse to keep them moving so any recommendations? Particularly ones for flights as I’m jetting off quite soon! Thank you for writing these posts, I always find them so informative and just generally calming to read! <3
