Sunday Riley Luna Oil

When it comes to reviewing skincare, I do tend to take my time. I don’t expect miracles (doesn’t mean I don’t hope for them) as I know that skincare generally takes time to be effective. However, I have recently had a bit of a wow moment when it comes to a single product I’ve been trying from Sunday Riley. The product in question is the Sunday Riley Luna Oil.

What makes the oil special then? Well, it’s a combination of things. Firstly that it manages to combine and oil and retinol skincare – something that formula wise is very tricky to do. I’m not a scientist so won’t try to explain, but basically keeping a retinol active and stable in an oil formula takes a little bit of magic to work – and Sunday Riley mastered it.

Second to this, the oil is also blue. Yes, blue. A dark blue in fact – and housed within a dark coloured glass bottle in order to protect the retinol within the formula. Interestingly though, the dark oil doesn’t just leave you looking like a member of the blue man band. The dark colour actually vanishes as you rub into your skin – which is how it’s meant to be used. So if you can still see a tint of blue, then you haven’t rubbed it in enough. A little like one of those timer tooth brushes so you know when you’ve brushed enough – when the blue tint goes, you’re good.

Now, to try and explain why I really like this. Well, part of it comes down to the formula – it manages to be light, yet an oil at the same time. I do love an oil product for skin (and body, and hair…) but I don’t like it when they don’t feel like they absorb or if they feel heavy on the skin. This does exactly that. The combination of the formula means that skin manages to feel really hydrated, and refreshed at the same time. So older layers of skin are refreshed to leave the most youthful feeling skin. From even the first use I was impressed – my skin felt hydrated and that bit more glowy than before – and all whilst I slept. Any product that makes me look better whilst I sleep is a winner in my eyes.

Sunday Riley Luna is available from Space NK (£XX)

Ugh I got a sample of this from my Sephora and I want to love it so badly, but I feel like it’s breaking my out. Whenever I don’t use it, my breakouts go away. I don’t know, I like what it does to my skin as far as pores and looking just more brighter, but I don’t know if I should keep trying it out if it’s going to cause me to break out!
