Accessorize has had a beauty range for a few years now, but recently it’s had a bit of an overhaul and re-launched with shiny new (rose gold) packaging, a super-girly look and generally a bit of a make-over. The range is pretty huge, but I have the nails shades to show you plus a few tasters of the rest of the collection to ‘whet your whistle’ or something like that… starting out with the Accessorize Beauty Nail Colours – in colour groups.
So here we have, going from left to right on the swatch wheel above: Petrol (matte), Deep Sea, Blue Suede Shoes, Sugar Blue, Breezy, Olive Garden, Frosty Morning & Heavenly.
All the swatches on the post are two coats – to keep it consistent and to help show if some may need more work than others. For example Olive Garden definitely would need a third coat. Where Petrol and Deep Sea are great on just two. My favourite – well, I’m always a sucker for blues so a tough call – but Petrol, Deep Sea and Blue Suede Shoes are all right up my street.
Accessorize, being a beauty brand to appeal to your inner girly-girl has a solid range of glitter shades. Again, each one is shown with two coats and coverage will vary depending on it being a shade that would work on it’s one (the turquoise in the right for example) or one that is best used as a top coat to add a sparkle.
From left to right: Savannah, Mermaid,Party Dress, Belle, Sweet Sixteen, Star Dust, Glass Slipper & Forever Emerald.
They range from delicate glitter with a few larger chunks to full on chunky glitter. My pick of the bunch would have to be Glass Slipper or Mermaid I think as these to me are the most unusual.
The Reds & Pinks.
A classic bunch of shades from deep red to pinks and corals. A few variations on the classic red nail and some girly colours too. Again, all two coat – showing some are great, some need a third coat ideally.
Left to right: Cherry Bomb, Made In Red, Raspberry Jam, Macaroon, Orchid, Bubble Gum, Candy Floss, Ballet Shoe.
My favourites are the three reds – with probably Cherry Bomb being my top pick as it’s a good classic deep red that would go with anything. Orchid reminds me a lot of Essie Splash of Grenadine too…another love of mine. Bubble Gum is definitely the one that needs an extra coat here.
The neutrals, metallics and ‘others’…
The final group is mostly the nude/neutral shades, plus a couple of slightly random ones thrown in there too. From left to right:Bronze Leaf, Lalala Lilac, Ethereal, In The Nude, Almond, Misty, Stellar, Treasure, Sherbert Lemon, Snow Queen.
The metallic shades – Bronze Leaf, Stellar and Treasure are all really lovely. With the silver & gold being slightly more shimmer based and Bronze leaf being more metallic. Ethereal is a lovely shimmer to add over another colour – I wore it over a mint green this week and it just adds a lovely sheen. Snow Queen is an interesting one as it’s part pearly/metallic and has a few sort of chunks of glitter in there. A good one if you’re maybe doing a ‘Frozen’ inspired make-up look… very frosty with the perfect name. Almond and Misty both look much paler in the bottle than on the nail. In The Nude is also a really flattering nude if you prefer yours more pinky toned.
My favourites from this have to be Bronze Leaf and Lalala Lilac. Although there are actually quite a few I really like here.
The rest of the range:
A little snap shot look at some of the other goodies from the range. There’s a large palette of eyeshadows – repackaged from the previous range but packed with colours and amazing value. Would make a fab gift for a young teenager just getting into playing with make-up perhaps?
Overall the packaging is very cute – I loved the look of the primer before I even tried it out thanks to the turquoise polka dot design. The highlighter has cute packaging with the ‘Love London’ – but it is just a simple highlighter when opened up.
The lip range:
The lipstick/balm/gloss range is pretty huge – from double ended gloss/stick duo, to crayons, to light up gloss, glitter gloss and lipstick… there’s a bit of everything. From the bunch below I’ve picked out and swatched my favourite shades to show what each texture looks like.
The one I’m most impressed with is the gem lips – really strong colour pay off on these. The crayons are also very cute and nice bright shades. Along with all the nails and lip products the range has a bit of everything – for me the nail shades are the stand outs and the main item I’d look to pick up. But I can definitely see how this will be a very tempting destination if you have pocket money to spend or are looking for a gift. I’m pretty sure my nieces will be delighted if I give them a few items from this range as the packaging and colours are really fun and girly and I’m sure they will love them.
