I haven’t really covered it a huge amount on the blog, but I have to first start by saying I really like the new look/new brand Nails Inc. I think it looks really modern and I love the new style bottles with the bit of a concave curve to them. I think it was in need of a refresher and they nailed it (pun intended). So along with a new look, comes a new raft of exciting things – including a collection in collaboration with Alice & Olivia. There’s actually more than just the four piece mini kit you see here – there are also some large size bottles of some of these shades and some stand alone shades in larger sizes too. But for the purposes of this review post we shall be taking a look at the four mini shades in the Nails Inc Alice and Olivia Collaboration.
The collection itself is described as ‘inspired by the Alice+Olivia fall/winter 2015 collection, inspired by 1970’s sexy rock-and-roll vibe with a dark bohemian twist.’ The shades all compliment each other nicely and do make for a good capsule collection for A/W. Personally the nude shade is quite flattering as I’m quite pale – but wether it works for you will vary on your skintone (I feel it will suit neutral or pink toned paler skins best overall – not so much on yellow toned). The darker shades are all quite classic, with the gold sparkle one (‘Gold Goddess’) being the most unique. I love how this has a dark/sheer black base for the gold glitter as it really gives it an edge.
Overall it probably isn’t the most unique collection I’ve ever seen – but that’s what actually makes it nice. It’s totally wearable, a cohesive set of colours that work for Autumn/Winter and if you’re on a minimal-beauty-collection-trip (I am attempting to be) then this is the sort of thing that’s ideal. A set of four small bottles of shades (who has ever finished a whole nail varnish anyway!?) that take you right through a season. My favourite in the bunch has to be Gold Goddess though – very pretty but with an edge. Really like this shade.
