So Bobbi Brown has a whole tidal wave of new-ness hitting counters right now. From the Christmas gifting collections (always a winner – and in actual fact it was a Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Christmas gift that was one of the things that sparked my love of beauty – true story), the Winter collection that’s full of pretty sparkle and day to day wearable shades PLUS there’s the new collection of lipsticks. These are the new Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Colours and they are pretty much exactly as the name suggests. Basically an upgrade on the existing lipstick line.
The lipsticks have a new formula that’s really rich and creamy. They feel really soft and hydrating to apply – and stay moisturising for longer. They glide on easily and deliver beautiful colour. Plus the packaging is a beautiful gold, with a weight feel compared to the existing packaging with the Bobbi Brown crest embossed on the top. The shape of the bullet is slightly different too – the angle at the top is sliced a little flatter than the typical lipstick. No idea how or why, but for some reason this just adds to the luxe feeling overall.
I have two colours to show you – the red is ‘Russian Doll’ and the nude is ‘Mod’ – but one is a nude and the other a deep red. So a good chance to show the two sides of the lipstick spectrum. There are 30 shades in the range – from nudes, to soft pinks, bright pinks and of course a selection of red shades and other deeper tones.
Both shades do glide on comfortably – but overall I was a little more ‘wow-ed’ by the red shade. The nude is a pretty one, but maybe a touch too close to my skin tone it washed me out a little as it was paler than my natural lip tone so made me feel like maybe I should have put a dab of concealer on to wash out the pinky-ness and allow the lipstick to create the colour as it feels a tad like it’s competing with my natural lip shade. But the red – wow. This was beautiful. Ok, my application for the photo is a tad flawed, but I was applying without any liner or anything so think it might be one that is so creamy and smooth that it needs a liner to give it that perfect lip line. This is one that to me just screams Christmas lipstick colour?! Maybe this year I’ll become one of those glamorous women who wears velvet with gold jewellery and a festive red lip on the day!? Is that even a thing?! I’m making it a thing. And this will be my lipstick of choice. Or maybe I might try a bright pink version…
