Fenwick Bond Street Beauty Icons {Beauty}

Imagine the scenario – you’re invited to head down to a shiny brand new beauty hall to explore the new offerings and see what brands are on offer. Oh, and also to pick out your selection of up to eight ‘beauty icons’ from the ranges on offer. Basically like beauty-land supermarket sweep!? Well, when that shiny brand new beauty hall is Fenwick then you get your butt to that shop floor double quick. Then most likely spend some time staring, somewhat overwhelmed around at all the gorgeousness before diving in to make your product selections…

My first stop was Chanel – as I knew I couldn’t have a range of beauty icons without featuring the brand. The tricky bit was beauty or fragrance and then…which one?! My gut instinct told me to choose one of my all time favourite fragrances Chanel Chance eau fraiche. The ‘fresh’ version of the famous Chanel Chance family has been probably my most love perfume for almost a decade now. It’s one of those scents that just carries me away and makes me smile. If you like fresh fragrances that last then this is one you should check out. The service on the Chanel counter was great, as I spend some time really checking out all the different fragrance options before settling on my gut instint. I was almost swayed by Chanel Coco Noir but I stuck to my guns and went with Chance.

Then, before I launched myself into the rest of the beauty hall – which is stunning by the way – the perfect balance between huge range to choose from and spacious. Yet, each counter has a feeling of intimacy and not like you’re on display for the rest of the shop floor. You really need to check out the Charlotte Tilbury and MAC counters especially -both really impressive.

With my beauty icon selections I wanted to make a range of choices that spread across the full beauty spectrum. So I wanted to check off skincare, make-up (eyes, lips and face) and skincare too. Along with the Chanel fragrance choice. When I was having a think about my own beauty icons before the day across each category there were a few I decided on before I even got there. These are:

Sisley Comfort Extreme Lip Balm * – The ultimate lip balm and the top one that’s recommended any time I tweet asking about a solution for chapped lips. This was an essential beauty icon choice and is now sitting on my bedside table ready for use every night before bed to attempt to avoid getting chapped lips this Winter.

Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita Palette * – Whilst until now, this wasn’t a palette I owned it was always the one I hear everyone rave about. I am a huge fan of the Golden Goddess Palette – it’s the one I used on my wedding day and regularly since. But the reddy tones of the Dolce Vita have been calling out to me. I am so glad I made this choice for one of my Beauty Icons – it really is a superstar of a palette. An Autumn smokey eye favourite without a doubt.

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation * – Another much-raved about product that I’ve had on my ‘need to try this’ list for absolutely ages. Having heard only good things about this I knew I wanted to try it out. I was easily and quickly colour matched and this was a definite beauty icon choice. I will have to let you know in another blog post how I get along with it.

As for the other four picks, I went for a mix of new (to me) brands and some that I think are lesser known but should-be beauty icons:

Laura Mercier Eye Basics in Bright * – A pale blue creamy primer for the lids. Helps to counter redness and leave eyes looking perky and fresh. I first tried this when I was in San Francisco with Macy’s last year and the MUA on the Laura Mercier counter showed me and I absolutely loved it and have been telling myself I needed to pick one up ever since.

Colbert MD Eye Cream * – I spent some time at the Colbert MD chatting about the products. A brand I haven’t tried before but the textures and information won me over. This eye cream manages to be both really hydrating and feel amazingly fresh at the same time. I was clearly having a sleepy day when I went for the combination of the Laura Mercier and the Colbert MD…!

For my final two I wanted to add a bit of colour…

By Terry Contouring Compact * – Ok, I’m not a fan of contouring but this won me over as it’s one of those two-in-one type products with both a blusher and a bronzer type shades. I chose the Fresh Contrast – a pinky fresh tone and a peachy bronze shade that could be nice as a blusher or a bronzer type of colour. By Terry products are the sort of premium that really do feel very special to use – the compact itself is a heavy metal feeling one and the product inside gorgeously embossed and just the right (usable) side of ‘too pretty to use’.

Last, but by no means least I decided to opt for one of the slightly smaller brands on offer in Fenwick – the fabulous Lipstick Queen. I thought if I was going to choose a single colour as a ‘beauty icon’ then it would have to be either a red or a ‘my lips but better’ and when I had a look at this range the shade that jumped out at me is called Pinky Nude * from the ‘Saint’ range of colours. It’s a beaut – and I had to just dig it out of my handbag to check the name – which shows how much I like it, if it’s in the regular use slot!

PHEW. Quite a list of beauty goodies there, no?! What I’d love to know is what you would choose as your beauty icons – or even your number one beauty icon?! Maybe your all time favourite scent or signature lipstick?
