Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation & Concealer

Let me take you back a few years… to the early days of blogging. A little flash back if you will…. when Bourjois first launched it’s healthy mix foundation. I reviewed it for the first time back in 2010 – if you want a flashback to my early style of blog post… you can take a peek on the link at the bottom of this post. I listed it then as one of my Bourjois favourites then and ever since I’ve been a firm believer that Bourjois do the best foundations on the affordable market.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation – Reformulated for 2017

Well the exciting news is that the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation and concealer has had a bit of a re-vamp for 2017. BUT the best news ever is that it’s a new and improved version of the original. Taking all the benefits of the original and giving a few extra skin-loving benefits. But don’t worry – as someone who knows how ace it was originally, it hasn’t changed beyond recognition! The reasons I have always been a fan of Bourjois Healthy Mix for a few reasons – mainly the combination of a glowy, healthy finish. But without being too heavy. In general, I always opt for a lighter, natural finish – so this is right up my street. Giving that natural, fresh faced look whilst also perfecting – but most importantly it looks like your own skin, not like you’re wearing a mask.

It feels comfortable to wear too. I wore it for two days dashing around London last week. At a time when I’ve been going through a dry-skin phase (thanks a lot Winter) it held up and kept my skin looking hydrated all day. I was paying special attention to my eye area and even there seemed to feel more comfortable than it usually does as the day went on. It held up well for the duration of the day I was out and about (around 12 hours) with just one slight powder around my nose area needed. Pretty darn impressive!

Fresh Faced

With the whole ‘fresh faced’ approach in mind I thought I’d show you through my current day to day make-up look that I’ve been opting for since the start of the New Year. I don’t see it stopping anytime soon either… my usual morning routine currently follows post shower sitting at my desk to check over emails at the same time as doing my make-up so it needs to be quick and easy and leave me feeling ready to face the day. Whether that means walking the dogs and writing posts, or zipping from meeting to product launches around London.

My Day To Day Make Up Routine:

Prep skin with moisturiser and sunscreen.

Apply 1-2 pumps of Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation using a damp beauty blender. This combination is a dream for a natural and glowing finish that lasts.

Apply concealer to under-eye area (in triangle shape) and use narrow end of the beauty blender to blend out.

The base really is the bit I spend the most time on when it comes to day to day make-up. Making sure that’s even, looking natural and ‘set’ to last the day is the main thing for me at the moment. Then the other bits lips/cheeks/eyes can always be added to or changed pretty easily!

Cheeks & Eyes:

For cheeks I’ve been using a combination of a pale bronzer and illuminating blusher. Just to add a flush of colour to the cheeks. Mascara wise a current favourite is actually from Bourjois too – the Volume Reveal Mascara. I love the waterproof version as it’s one of very few that don’t smudge on my upper lids as the day goes on. Sometimes for day to day I’ll just wear mascara, or a sweep of a bronze/golden eyeshadow. Keeping it simple.

Then in the photo here I’m wearing another little new thing from Bourjois – one of their new Rouge Laque shiny finish lip stain colours which launches in March. The one here is the shade 07 Purpledelique – a deep berry shade, but when applied as a sheer wash it goes a touch lighter. Which is what I’ve done here. My lip choice is probably the biggest variable of my daily beauty routine. Sometimes I just apply a balm, other times I’ll go full lipstick. Just depends how I’m feeling. Majority of the past month has been a balm to counter dry lips!

Rediscovering Bourjois Healthy Mix:

I’m really pleased to be rediscovering my love for Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation and concealer. In such a busy beauty world, it’s so easy to forget an old favourite – so it’s really good to hear when one has been tweaked just enough to make it a better version of something you always loved. If you have dry/combination skin and like a natural finish with medium coverage then I would really recommend you give the newly reformulated Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation and concealer a whirl. There are now nine shades of foundation and three of the concealer. In case you’re wondering, I’m still the same shade I was when I first tried it – No52 Vanilla. I used the lightest shade of concealer too. It’s sort of a happy medium between shopping my stash and discovering something new!

Did you love this foundation first time around and been tempted to give it another whirl? Or have you not tried yet…. if not, what are you waiting for!?

Oh this was such a blast from the past! Healthy Mix was my fave for ages, then I started buying more high end foundations and haven’t really revisited it since about 2012. I found a sample sachet of the new version in Stylist yesterday so maybe… maybe it’s time to pick up another bottle! For nostalgia 🙂 xx

I did exactly the same! I used to swear by Bourjois foundation but then slowly but surely got lured into the more expensive ones but re-trying it has been great. I love the glowy finish and it’s a lovely reminder that expensive doesn’t always mean the best!

You’re definitely right: this foundation seems to give the perfect fresh, rested look to the skin, I don’t remember trying the old version but I will definitely try this new one! Great review!

How does it compare to the healthy mix serum? I preferred the serum edition to the original so would be very interested to see which the new is most like. Thanks!

Good question. I’d have to refresh my memory on the serum version properly but from what I remembered that was the more hydrating/lighter version so I would say it’d very similar. Slightly longer lasting with more buildable coverage.

I really like the sound of this foundation and concealer, especially the foundation! Might have to give it a go! X

I am a huge fan of Bourjois Healthy Mix. I think Bourjois foundations are the best. I like the serum too!
    I love the new packaging.

This foundation is great for a natural, dewy finish. I have foundations from Mac , Clinique , bobbi brown , NARS and Laura Mercier . I had never bought the “drugstore brands “ as I presumed they would not be as good . Just goes to prove you gong always get what you pay for . This foundation is the best I have ever used . It is undetectable on the skin surface , which I love and has yellow undertones that ensure a good colour match.
Fantastic product – well done Bourjois !

I still love the foundation but I find the concealer isn’t as good as it was. Do you have any recommendations for similar concealers? I am just not satisfied with the newly formulated one.

I’ve been using the Revlon Youth FX one lately and really like it. Wouldn’t necessarily say it’s similar but it’s good (probably medium) coverage, light texture and not drying!
