When this collection first arrived I think I was still too deep in ‘Summer mode’ to pay it enough attention. But now the ‘back to school’ season is here and the weather seems to have pretty much swung straight into deepest of Autumn, I am fully ready to embrace the shades and collections of Autumn. Starting with Clarins Graphik AW 2017 Collection because it’s a brand that has long been a favourite of mine, but one I’ve not really given a lot of blog-love to this year. But all to be rectified as this collection has a few gems that are well worth the blog love and certainly have me excited to switch things up beauty wise for the new season!
Anyone else find that there’s a season where they definitely get that urge for a change? For me it’s always Autumn. I want to try bolder looks, experiment more with darker or different tones of lipstick and generally embrace all things Autumn style. Bring on the cuddly jumpers, cosy boots, and berry colours galore.
ANYWAY, I digress on all the Autumn fun and games. Back to the Clarins AW collection – this is just a peek at the collection so let me know if there are any favourites where you want to see closer or a look with at all and I can do that and either add in or share on social. But, on the collection – it’s a small but interesting one and I’ve made a couple of tweaks to what I’m featuring here as I’ve also added in the new Pore Perfecting Mattifying Foundation too – this was launched earlier in 2017 but I hadn’t mentioned it and there’s something about a mattifying foundation that feels AW appropriate so I thought it makes a nice addition. That combination of a darker eye plus a matte finish skin just seems to work for the season, no?
The full collection features a Graphik Ink Liner, an eye shadow palette with a blend of smokey and deep green shades, a cream to powder ombre-matte shadow in a bold midnight blue, three lip colours, two lip liners and a blusher. I have a couple of the lip colours, one lip liner and the midnight blue ombre-matte shadow here to take a peek at.
There are two stand out shades for me from the collection – the orange-tones Jolie Rouge is a shade called Guava (shade 756), and the midnight blue Ombre Matte cream to powder eyeshadow. Both bold shades that fit but aren’t ‘typical’ for Autumn. Not quite sure I could pull off wearing them at the same time but they’re both gorgeous. I’d go for the blue shadow for a smokey eye with a nude matte lip. Or the orange tone Guava with a matte nude eye and lots of mascara. Both with a matte finish base. The blue ombre matte is a gorgeous quality – I’ve tried these before and they manage to be a clever mix of matte and shimmer as the finish is matte but the pigment that that bit of shine so they have a bit of dimension to them.
What do you think of the collection – let me know if there’s any you want to see in action or more closely just leave a comment or tweet me. My top picks – the blue ombre matte or the guava lipstick are my favourites.
