Giorgio Armani Rouge d'Armani Matte Lipstick

I love a good lipstick, but one texture I am extremely fussy about is a matte one. I LOVE the look of a matte lipstick, there’s something that seems instantly cool about that shine free finish. Especially in a bright or bold shade like a fuschsia or a red. BUT, it can be a tricky texture to wear. Matte has traditionally meant dry, lacking in moisture and as a result – absolutely excellent at highlighting any dehydration or fine lines. Which for me, is not a look I am going for in all honesty.

That being said, the newest generation of matte lipsticks are becoming increasingly clever at being shine-free but still velvety and hydrating. Which leads me on to taking a look at a range of shades from the Giorgio Armani Rouge d’Armani Matte Lipstick range. A selection of matte finish, long lasting lip colours with intense (almost stain-like) pigment but with a comfortable texture and finish.

There’s a wide range of shades from tones of nude, reds and some dark berry or brown shades. Majority being matte shades, one of the dark shades I have has a golden shimmer through it which works well with the dark tone to add a little something. There are 15 shades in the Giorgio Armani Rouge d’Armani Matte Lipstick range in total and I have 10 here to show you.

The texture of these is a really bold/intense pigmented one – all of the swatches are two swipes of the bullet. These colours PAY OFF. And you know what, they stay intense too – when I went to wash the swatches off my arm they leave a tint behind so alongside the intense colour there’s also a long lasting stain to make sure the colour lasts well.

Of the 10 shades my favourite shade is the 301 Amber a really summery red shade with a bit of that orange tone to it but not quite as bold as Lucky Red or Four Hundred. A little easier/low key to wear day to day.

The Giorgio Armani Rouge d’Armani Matte Lipstick range is available now from John Lewis (£31)
