Ok, so I am NOT claiming to be some sort of stylish Parisian woman based on spending a little weekend break there… but I wanted to share some of the beauty bits that made the cut for the trip. Any time I go away it’s a good time to really see what the favourites are and there are some absolute gems.
Let’s start with the Chanel CC Cream. This stuff is BEAUTIFUL. If you’re the type who likes a natural looking coverage that feels good on skin, blends like a dream AND has SPF 50 then this ticks every box. The only area it falls down is there’s only a limited shade range. I use shade B20 and it’s a good match for my Summer skintone, but would probably switch down to B10 for Winter. But this is an all rounder for the natural looking skin base fans out there.
To cover any little imperfections I’ve been loving the Glossier Stretch Concealer. Not just for spots/imperfections though – the texture of it is great and light and works well for blending out easily to create a sheer natural base in itself. Works a treat for a ‘no makeup, makeup’ thing. I’ve also been using the Glossier Cloud Paint again too – it’s a great simple product that works well for cheeks and lips. Gotta love a multi-tasker.
Obviously I didn’t travel without Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter because it’s a bit of a legendary product. I didn’t ‘get’ it on first use but then it was a magic combination with another base that made it become a wonder product for me. Now it’s an absolute ‘can’t live without’. It is the glow-giver of dreams than can be used for all over ‘lit from within’ or that specifically located radiance. The Tilbury loose powder is a most-used too, I love how it looks – but don’t love the smell of it.
For eyes I picked up a new NARS palette recently from Space NK. They launched these new smaller 6 – shade palette. I chose the NARS Voyageur palette in the shade Nectar. I mix of warm toned orange/golden shades and basically the ultimate travel palette mix of easy to wear shades that work for day and night. I used it for the first time for Saturday night in Paris and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. Highly recommend for a great all rounder.
There’s another current favourite from NARS in the mix too – the NARS Climax Mascara. I did a #minireviewmonday on that one over on Instagram. So take a peek at the caption below to see what I think of that one below…

#minireviewmonday This @narsissist mascara was seriously hyped when it first launched. And I love me a good mascara. But really, is it any good? Baring in mind my lashes are still a little on the stubby side since I had my extensions removed but the pic shows one eye with and one without the mascara. The formula is quite ‘wet’ but that makes it really easy to layer up. Which is how I find it works best, layered. So not always a quick slick and go. It has a large bristled brush with I like but personally prefer the tip to be more narrow to allow getting into corners & doing lower lashes more easily. I actually haven’t found my mascara smudges with this at all. Which is a very big deal & very rare (potentially down to the lashes not actually touching my upper lid at the moment) I have found it flakes just a little towards the end of the day though. My overall view on this mascara is that’s it really is very good, definitely delivers length and the packaging is v.cool. Does it live up to the launch hype? 🤔 Well, it’s a good mascara but there really was a LOT of hype about it, so I’d say that’s a pretty high bar to live up to… #minireview #narsclimax #narsclimaxmascara #climaxmascara #narsmascara #beautyreview #mascarareview #mascarabeforeandafter #beautyjunkieldn #bjlminireview (Mascara bought by me)
I’ve also been enjoying the Beauty Pie Fresh Glow Setting Spray. A spray is also ideal to take the too-matte finish away from powder and this is great for that. Plus it’s price means I don’t feel bad using it generously.

Lipstick wise I went with a nude, easy to wear shade as find that the easiest pairing for a bronze eye for either day or night. The shade is ‘Let’s Mesa Around’ from the recent MAC Electric Wonder Collection. There are many, many amazing nudes out there but this is definitely my current most-worn.
There’s also a MAC Eye Kohl in the shade Powersurge in there. One that Dominic Skinner used as part of his masterclass back in April. I loved the shade used as a base for a bronze smokey eye so picked one up and use it all the time. It’s a greeny-gold type of shade and it’s a beauty. Great for an easy bit of definition on the eye.
To top it all off, the Byredo Mohave Ghost perfume is my absolute favourite at the moment. I bought it from Space NK a few months ago and absolutely adore it. In fact I’m all round loving Byredo perfume, I just purchased the new Sundazed one and both feel very special.
All in all, this is basically a who’s-who of my most used and current favourites. Interestingly… the majority of the products shown are ones I bought for myself rather than PR samples (Charlotte Tilbury products gifted, all others bought by me – some brands are ones that have previously gifted/sent product but the ones shown all purchased).
I’d be really interested to know your thoughts on this if you’ve managed to read the post this far. Does the ‘source’ of a product recommendation (gifted vs. bought) impact your view on a blogger or a review?
