Beauty for charity

I just wanted to do a quick blog post to share a little bit of news with you, well – not so much news but something I wanted to share. Through beauty blogging for the past (almost) three years it’s fair to say I have accumulated a fairly ridiculous collection of beauty products – through buying and being sent them to test out. As much as I love beauty products and would LOVE to test and try every single thing, sometimes it’s just not possible and I don’t want them to go to waste (plus I only have a small flat). So over the last few months I had been planning a beauty sale at work, to pass on all the lightly or unused products – with all proceeds going to charity.

The chaos begins!

It was a busy day!
On the day it was a little like the pictures from when Primark Oxford Street opened – elbows at the ready! It  was really exciting to see products that had either been lightly tested or brand new go to good homes and all for a good cause!
Overall the beauty sale raised £750, of which £250 is going to the various charities that my work supports (including Help for Heroes and Kids Co) and the other £500 is to be donated to Refuge
I chose Refuge because it’s a charity that I think does wonderful work and because it’s linked to Give and Makeup (where you can donate unwanted beauty products that will go to women’s shelters) so felt like a good fit for the donation.
I just wanted to share this with you all, partly because I’m quite pleased to have been able to raise such a chunk of money for a good cause through a hobby I love and partly because I wanted to share it in case it gives anyone else ideas of what to do with beauty products that might not be used or are unwanted.
If you have any questions about the sale feel free to either email me or comment below.

What a great idea. I’ve got some make up, mainly foundation, that I’ve only used once or twice and would like to donate it. Have you got an address that I could send it to please.

That’s amazing! I’d like to do something like that with my stash. I’d be thrilled if I could manage to raise a third of what you managed.

Lovely post about the good nature of mankind. It’s a brilliant idea. Glad you raised so much money. I am over the pond here in North Carolina, but this would be a very good them for me to organize along with my Women’s group. Keep up the good work:)
