There’s something I love about this time of year. Is the back to school feeling or is it that somehow perfect balance between a dose of sunshine and a slight chill in the air. The fact I can wear jeans and a jumper but don’t need a coat. It’s very particular but I like it. Yes, the days grow shorter and temperatures dip, so it’s very natural to crave warmth, comfort, and a slower pace. Of course Winter often brings images of cosy nights curled up indoors, but I really feel like it can also be a season where our motivation to stay active and take care of ourselves starts to fade. Which can leave me feeling sluggish and low. But there’s good news? Making a few intentional choices, I do think it’s possible to enjoy the best of both worlds – both feeling nurtured, cosy, and comforted while also supporting a nice dose of feeling healthy and looking after your own wellbeing. So with that in mind, here are some key ways I like to balance both getting cosy and feeling healthy this season with some little seasonal treats courtesy of Very.com (gifted product).

Having my home smell good is one of my most core joys. Maybe sounds ridiculous for some but I really do believe in the power of scent for making you feel good. Works for perfume, works for home. One of the quickest ways to transform your home into a cosy little sanctuary from the less than lovely weather is with scent. With two kids and two dogs at home, I love to use an electric diffuser such as the ESPA Electric Diffuser as it not only gently perfumes your space but it also avoids any fire-safety fears of burning candles. Don’t get me wrong, I love a candle but with the previously mentioned chaos of kids and animals an electric diffuser is undoubtedly much safer. There are certain scents that are perfectly suited to colder months, creating a cosy atmosphere that helps you zone out and relax after a busy day.
Of course you can always personalise and blend these together can create your own signature cosy fragrance. Or you can use a pre-made set of signature blends and choose which one fits with your mood. The ESPA Aromatherapy Essential Oil Blend collection is perfect for this with 4 oil blends selected for soothing, positivity, energising and restorative moments. Turning on your diffuser in the evening becomes more than just scenting your home—it’s a signal to your mind and body that it’s time to rest.

It’s not secret I am a fan of a blanket, especially when this blanket is combined with two curled up sausage dogs on my lap. Of course, colder months are an ideal time to lean into comforting textures and weighted blankets have become especially popular for their ability to reduce stress and create a sense of security. The gentle pressure of a weighted blanket is thought to mimic a therapeutic technique called “deep touch pressure,” which helps lower anxiety, calm the nervous system, and even support better sleep. Funnily enough the weight of the Silentnight Weighted blanket is almost exactly the same as one sausage dog, so in case you don’t have dachshund shaped comfort then this is the next best thing.
So whatever you’re doing this Autumn to relax – reading, watching a favourite movie or series, or just having a little doom scroll moment on the sofa – a weighted blanket can transform ordinary downtime into a stress relieving little ritual. Essentially like a hug, in blanket form so you can reach for it anytime you need extra comfort.
This is a great time of year to kick off new beauty routines and habits. If doing a pro-level treatment such as laser hair removal this is your ideal window to get those treatments in and be hair-free by next Summer. However, it’s not all about those salon treatments. Adding extra little routines and maybe an at-home gadget to your skincare regimen can be the perfect little add on to make what was a short dose of the essential steps suddenly transform in a moment for you to be more present and even feel like a mini spa type treatment.
Using a Facial Sculpting Tool such as the StylPro Mini Micro Current Facial Toning Device is ideal. If you start using it now you can track the results and progress to the end of the year. Plus it just feels like a lovely soothing massage. Helping stimulate and tone the facial muscles over time but in the moment offers an immediate gua-sha type of facial massage, easing puffiness and releasing tension.

There’s no denying that colder weather can make it harder to stay motivated to exercise. I do love to invest in a new workout set that feels good to wear and this can be surprisingly effective in encouraging movement. Whether it’s a pair of supportive leggings, a breathable long-sleeve top, or a cosy zip-up hoodie, having clothing you look forward to putting on makes it easier to stick with healthy routines. The Gym + Coffee range is the perfect choice for this season with a mixture of colour coordinated sets but added bonus of cosy beanies to stay warm whilst you do your workouts or just fit being active into your daily life.
For me, it’s not about pushing myself to do long, sweaty workouts every day—it’s about making movement feel inviting and intentional rather than like a chore. When you feel comfortable and confident in what you’re wearing, heading out for a walk or fitting in a quick stretch at home feels much easier. Just walking for the school run feels like a nice little dose of movement in the colder months.
When it’s cold and dark outside, it can feel overwhelming to carve out time for exercise. When your head is telling you to just hunker down inside. So this is the time of year I try to make a gentle shift to view movement as just part of your daily routine rather than an extra task. That way, it feels productive and purposeful. I find it turns movement into something that slots seamlessly into your schedule rather than competing with it. Gentle and consistent is always going to be better than going hard but only once in a blue moon.
Getting cosy and staying healthy don’t have to be opposites. Making your home feel good with some gentle soothing scene that suit your mood, wrapping yourself in a stress relieving weighted blanket and a little treat of an active set that gives you that motivation boost and encourages movement, and generally finding finding ways to weave activity into your daily essentials, you can create a winter season that feels both nurturing and energising.
The colder months are a time to slow down, savour comfort, and care for your wellbeing. With a few mindful habits, you can step into the season with warmth—inside and out.
