Dolce & Gabbana Spring Collection 2015

You know when brands launch a collection and there are a couple of bits that totally catch your eye and become firm favourites? Well, that’s exactly what has happened with a trio of items from the Dolce & Gabbana Spring Collection 2015 for me. There are three products from the collection that tick all the boxes for me and will no doubt become year-round loves beyond just Summer. But first, a quick look at the whole collection.

IMG_8207IMG_8214Starting with the bright and creamy nail colours which immediately caught my eye when I first took a look at this. Of course, it was the blue that jumped out at me first – but I love all these brights together. I love the idea of using these as the colour accents for a negative space manicure. Or perhaps a base of white then some nail art using all four as total stand-out shades. I would never normally be interested in a yellow polish but alongside the other brights it looks really nice. The four colours are Angel (blue), Sole (yellow), Grass (green…obviously) and Bouganville (hot pink).

Then there are the two eye shadow palettes – a neutral and a more daring coloured one. Of course it’s the neutral that won me over on first look. But the other one (Explosion) is an interesting mix of colours – with a hot pink, almost red shade and a yellow… alongside the monochrome black and white. Honestly, I’m neither skilled nor brave enough to attempt to use these colours myself but am sure on perhaps a darker skin tone or for someone with some amazing shadow skills this would look great. On the other side of the scale we have the neutral palette (Tender) which is my new daily love – a blend of subtle nudes with the two paler shades being shimmer and the slightly darker ones being matte. It’s the perfect every day shadow quad for me and I very much love this.

Lip wise there are two lipsticks and a lip gloss/cream (I say this as the texture is glossy but it’s so pigmented it goes on more like a glossy lipstick than a cream colour). The lipsticks are nice, there’s a very pale shimmer colour (Sugar Pink) that I can see being used more as a layering product to add a shimmer or highlight to other shades rather than just alone. Then there’s a bright red/pink shade (Bouganville) that’s a bit of a signature running through the collection as there’s the Bouganville shade for lipstick, intense gloss, blusher, nails and in the eyeshadow palette.

As you can see again in the blusher shade. This is the Raspberry blusher and it looks totally terrifying but a subtle sweep delivers a pretty wash of colour. Not to be feared, but go light handed rather than risk looking like you have been slapped.

My three picks of the collection – the bright blue nail shade ‘Angel’ the shadow palette in ‘Tender’ and the intense gloss in ‘Bouganville’. I wore the intense gloss this week to the #Beauty20 Awards (where I was chuffed to go home with the ‘Best Beauty Blog’ Award!) and it lasted very well over drinks and lots of chatting. I was really impressed for a gloss – it really is a hybrid of lipstick and gloss in one.

Such a rainbow of colour for a Spring collection – really good to see such a selection of shades rather than just the cookie-cutter pastel options that are done time and time again! Perfect for Spring into Summer. Now excuse me whilst I paint my nails Angel blue…

The nail polishes look so pretty! I love the Explosion palette too. The colour combination is very interesting.
