If you think Burt’s Bees then the first thought that comes to mind is probably their lip balms – but did you know there’s actually a whole range of colour products too? Including these newly launched Burt’s Bees Lip Crayon shades. And (as you’re about to see) they’re pretty ace. Oh, and did I mention you can win a set to find out exactly how ace all for yourself? Just take a little scroll and have a read…

So as I mentioned, these are the new shades and there are six of them. Ranging from nude, to pink to even a deep burgundy shade. You would think that maybe with them being crayons they would lack pigment – and they do vary – but the colour pay off is strong, especially in the darker shades, which is more often where some products will fall down.
A little about the formulation, in typical Burt’s Bees style it’s about caring for your lips as well as adding a dose of colour with these. They contain Jojoba Oil, Shea Butter and Kendi Oil. The best bit? They’re 100% natural – if you have ever contemplated the amount of lipstick or lip product you might have accidentally eaten…and how they’re often packed with things you really would rather not eat…this 100% natural element is a major plus. Also, the crayon design is that perfect easy-to-apply on the go shape that means you can do it on the tube or bus without fear of clown face. Packaging wise, there’s a simple touch of the honeycomb design around the clear lids too – so you can easily see the shade and has that ‘Burt’s Bees’ signature) and they twist up, so no need to sharpen.

The six shades are (in order above L-R): Carolina Coast (423), Sedona Sands (405), Redwood Forest (411), Napa Vineyard (435), Hawaiian Smoulder (429), Niagara Overlook (417).

The six shades are all very easy to apply, feel hydrating but not sticky – just like wearing a balm rather than full lipstick. These are perfect if – like me – your lips are prone to being a bit dry. I love that even though it’s considered a lighter type of lip product, you don’t necessarily have to scrimp on colour – especially if you go for a shade like the Napa Vineyard deep red. That’s one that’s so impressively pigmented you might actually want to apply with a lip liner first to get that precise edge.
Shade wise and picking favourites…well, interestingly when I was trying these out my least favourite was Niagara Overlook. I just wasn’t sure the shade was right on me, but now looking at it in photos and I’m very much changing my mind?! Overall I think my favourite has to be Hawaiian Smolder. A rosy pink that does give that ‘my lips buy better’ (oh how I love that expression) look. I also like the shade Sedona Sands as a simple nude option – a shade I’ve been opting for over the past week. So basically what I’m trying to say is I like almost all of these shades and I can’t make decisions…
