One of the most frequently asked questions about beauty products is about tinted moisturiser/light bases. Or a base that evens things out, sort of works as skincare, is quick and easy to apply and lasts well. AKA the HOLY GRAIL OF EVERYDAY SKIN BASES. Every time someone asks me this I have one response: BareMinerals Complexion Rescue.
It’s been a while since I’ve called something holy-grail product level but BareMinerals Complexion Rescue is exactly this. What really secures this as such a number one recommendation is actually not just me loving it but realising when I spoke to a few friends they all swore by it too. Nothing like multiple recommendations to sell me on a product I already love myself.
So let me tell you what makes complexion rescue so good.
Firstly, it manages to be that clever sort of product that is half skincare and half makeup. But not more of one than the other. It really manages to be moisturising and offer just enough coverage to even out any redness or uneven skin tones. For me, it works a treat at toning down redness.
Texture wise, it’s very light – almost gel like but not in a sticky way. More like a light, fresh cream. A small amount does a really good job but you can build if you want a little more coverage. It feels light and fresh on the skin. Lasts well, although of course it is lighter so maybe doesn’t stick around quite as well as a full foundation. BUT as it does wear, I don’t find it goes patchy or anything in the same way a foundation would wear off.
Also, the speed of application needed makes it a winner for anyone looking for a little bit of something but having very little time to do so. This is why it’s in my ‘emergency car makeup’ bag. More on this in a post but I essentially have a small makeup bag I now keep in the car so if I’m in a rush/chaos getting baby/dogs out of the house, then I know I can apply a little makeup in the car – especially as Ella tends to nod off… giving me those precious quiet moments to stick some makeup on so I am ready to face the day/see other adults without scaring them…
I should probably add here that the photos are of a brand new tube not the beaten up looking one in my care makeup bag… but it’s the same shade of 02 Vanilla for both. In case you’re a similar colouring and wondered what your shade might be.
To sum up. If you want the perfect tinted moisturiser or light everyday base then BareMinerals Complexion Rescue would be my top recommendation. Hydrating but with just enough coverage to make everything look that smudge better than before without taking the time/effort of a proper foundation.
