Mavala Via Veneto nail varnish: review

Sorry if this bores you all, but I have yet another nail colour I want to review!

I was recently offered the chance to test out one of the colours from Mavala’s Spring range of colours and when I looked at the picture the colour Via Veneto really jumped out at me.

So when it arrived on Saturday morning I put it on straight away – I really love this colour – it’s a beige-y neutral with a subtle shimmer through it, although on the nail the shimmer is really really subtle making it almost a cream but not as flat as some creams can look. I also thought this was the perfect colour for me to wear to my first ever fashion week show.

The colour is a beige that has pinky/mauve undertones and does have a little bit of that ‘mannequin hands’ type of look, personally I like it and think it looks lovely and polished but know this isn’t a look for everyone.

The colour is fairly sheer so it took three coats to get the colour I wanted. The picture is three coats, over a Mavala base coat (that I use ALL the time) and Mavala top coat.

I really like the Mavala brand – I love the tiny bottles, it makes so much more sense that the huge ones from other brands – how often do we ever use a polish enough to finish it?? The £3.95 a bottle price is also pretty appealing, makes regular new-polishes nice and justifiable.
Below is a picture of the rest of the Spring 2010 collection from Mavala. The shade I tried, Via Veneto is the one on the right, next to the grey. In this this picture it looks a tad more shimmery/pearlescent than it is in real life.

So what do you think of this colour? Do you love or hate the mannequin hands look? Do any of the other colours from the Spring collection jump out at you?
The colour of this polish does look a bit ‘mushroom’ in natural light – this is a good thing, and would say there are similarities to the shade of Chanel’s Particuliere … but a bit paler and a bit more pink/warm – it’s gorgeous!
It has chipped quite a lot by today (Wednesday) when I painted my nails on Saturday. But think this is pretty decent – it looked about 85% perfect till yesterday.
