This weekend I opened a package from Max Factor, Max Effect collection and immediately let out some extremely girly squeals. Yep, one of those annoying girly things that those girls with the little dogs in handbags do when they see some sequined shoes or something.
Now, I’m not one of those girls – but I do have a weakness for pretty colours. Especially pretty nail colours. Even more especially, I have a thing for pretty duo-chrome colours. Oh, and did I mention turquoise and purple are my favourite colours? So factor all those in, when I spotted this little pot of duo-chromey, turquoise fabulousness I couldn’t help but let out the squeal.
Anyway, enough about my silly girly moment – onto the nails.
The colour is shade 14 ‘Dazzling Blue’ and it really is a gorgeous colour. A vibrant turquoise that turns to a greeny shade with a purple edged tone at different angles. It’s almost the colour a mermaid’s tail would look, if they were real.
Applied, the colour isn’t quite as vibrant – it takes two-three coats to get it opaque enough not to show the nail line. But the brush is great – small but not too short, wide but not too wide – a couple of strokes and the nail is covered. I have to say I love the mini-sized bottle, not only because it’s cute but also really practical – I have never managed to actually finish a whole bottle of full-sized polish, I’m too fickle and change colour too often! So small bottles are the way forward.
Anyway, I love this colour – although it isn’t my favorite shade for nails, I think it’s more of a pedicure colour. But feet pictures kind-of freak me out, so sticking with hands for the sake of the blog!
This is part of the new Max Effect range that is a veritable rainbow of shades. I have already spotted another nail shade I plan to pick up – a pretty rose gold type of shade that looks gorgeous. I have two eye-shadows and a very bright lip gloss that I plan to do a blog post about soon, but the standout for me is the nail colour.
The mini nail polishes are priced £3.49
Have you spotted the Max Effect collection? If so – what, if anything caught your eye??

As stated above. This nail colour was sent for free for the purposes of review. Opinions are honest and mine.
