Max Factor Limited Edition False Lash Effect Mascara

So today I popped into the Superdrug near work and what did I spy? Those immortal words ‘Limited Edition’. Of course I had to check it out – especially since they were splashed across a giant image of a mascara (and one of my preferred mascara brands to boot).

What did I find?

Max Factor False Lash Effect – but in a pink tube.

Excuse me for not stacking my basket and running to the till. Maybe I’m naive to think that the marketing bods had gotten a bit more advanced in recent years than the ‘it’s for girls, therefore make it pink and they will buy it’ approach.

Clearly not. No criticism of the product – it’s a lovely mascara – but sticking the words Limited Edition on a pink tube is not going to make me open my purse. Surely they could do something a little more inventive??

What do you think??

We were thinking the same – maybe a limited edition shade would’ve been a bit more creative…

REALLY! Its just a pink tube!! I saw the TV advert yesterday, they said it was pink/black so i thought it was some new colour, not just the mascara is still black but hey you can now have it in a pink tube! Im in marketing myself, surely this is not the best they can do! So glad i didnt waste a trip to my local Boots

I saw these in Superdrug yesterday too and i went in there intending to get a new false lash mascara anyway! I picked up the pink one out of curiosity but went for what i always get (waterproof black) instead, because the pink tube didnt even say what colour it was :s seemed pointless to me but at least an offer was on!

I quite like it in the pink tube for a change, but then I’m a sucker for cute packaging! It’s on offer in the new packaging too so that’s always a good thing! xxx

They are giving 1€ of the price to a cancer fond, that’s why it’s pink.

The Pink tube is for Breast Cancer awareness. They are donating $1 from every purchase to breast cancer research.

    its also not waterproof.

Hi Jeneara, Thanks for the comment – this is in the UK so it’s not clear if there was money going to Breast Cancer awareness or not. If it was, then it really wasn’t clear on the stand! This is from 2010 anyway so don’t think the pink version is available any more.

I didn’t think it was waterproof either – did you read somewhere that it was?
