So, following on from my first in the series of posts about ‘if I could only have one’ I decided to do a foundation one. This one was a bit tougher than the blush choice as there are a few foundations that I have a lot of love for but there is one that kept coming back to my mind when I thought about it and that is…

Clinique Anti Blemish Solutions Foundation*.

I discovered this last year and despite having dalliances with other foundations this is the one I keep coming back to. I love it because the finish isn’t too matte and isn’t too shiny. It has enough coverage to make skin look clear and even, but not so much that I look like I’m wearing a mask. This foundation holds up really well throughout a work day, rarely needing a touch up – only occasionally needing a dab of powder to stop too much shine on the t-zone.

I also find this foundation really easy to apply – I usually just do so with my fingers rather than using brush/sponge. Plus the price isn’t prohibitive – £21 for 30ml.

So that’s the favourite but I wanted to give a mention to the others that were contenders and why I decided they wouldn’t be the ‘one’.

MAC Face and Body – I do love the finish, feeling and application of this foundation but decided against it because it doesn’t last as well as the Clinique and tends to make my face shinier throughout the day.


Bare Essentuals Original* – Another one that I love and use regularly, especially on lazy Sundays. I love the finish of this one and how easy it is to just buff into skin. I didn’t choose it as number one as I prefer a liquid foundation for day-to-day use.
