Bobbi Brown Brightening Nudes

If you love your neutrals like me, then you’re going to love the brightening nudes collection from Bobbi Brown. In particular, the brightening nudes finishing powder is a beauty!

The colours will totally appeal to anyone who loves those greigey/taupe shades, but these have a gorgeous shimmer and create a gorgeous sheen on the skin – thanks to the pinker and white shades that are mixed in.

When I first saw it, I wondered if the shades could double up as eye shadows – they are pretty, but too light on pigment to be used as a shadow, but could be a highlight on the eyelid. But as a brightening face powder, or highlighter it’s gorgeous. I love this powder as a glow/highlighter on the cheeks – rather than all over as I prefer to keep shimmer confined to one area rather than all over.

Also in the Brightening Nudes collection is a range of lip glosses – including this one, Lilac Pearl. It might look like something far from the ‘nude’ family, but the shade is actually really subtle and nicely flattering.

When I think about it, it’s kinda funny to think about using shades that border on the grey side of things as a finishing powder, when grey is usually the opposite of all things bright. But it really does work, the greyer shades do have warmer undertones and the pink and white really perk up the colour.

And of course here are the swatches…

The Finishing Powder is swatched really heavily here, as I said it’s light on pigment but this gives you an idea of the level of shimmer. Same with the lip gloss, the colour pretty much disappears in the swatch, leaving just a pale lilac tinge and a bit of shimmery glow.

I’ll use these in a face of the day soon so you can get an idea of what they look like ‘in use’ as well as just swatched on skin. For the finishing powder, it’s definitely something I’d choose for evening rather than in the day time as the shimmer might be a bit too much for in daylight. The lip gloss will be a good topper for brighter colours to cool them down a little bit.

For more on the Bobbi Brown Brightening Nudes Collection see the Bobbi Brown Website. The finishing powder is £40 and the lip gloss is £17.
