Topshop have a new collection out and it’s a bit of a stunner -it’s called ‘Dark Side of Nude’ and if you like your neutral/nude type shades but with a bit of an edge then this is definitely one for you to check out. It has a touch of the Gothic to it, but in a grown up way – rather than in the angry teenager way.
The two nail varnishes are predictably great quality – ‘Granite’ the dark grey is gorgeous. I do love grey as a year-round shade. Dark for A/W and pale for S/S (on a slight side note, if you had said to me five years ago about wearing great nail varnish I probably would have thought you were a crazy person, but now I love it…how times change!). ‘Stardust’, the gold glitter is amazing – I layered it over the grey for a sparkly accent nail. It didn’t need multiple coats at all, just two swipes and it was this glitter-packed. Amazing, especially considering it’s over such a dark base.
The eyeshadow palette is called ‘Atmosphere’ and the shadows feel so nice and silky and lovely and pigmented for a shimmer shadow. The gold in the middle is the most wearable but I love the idea of the purple for a darker look – this is my perfect sort of coloured shade. With colour but not in your face, nice and muted. Blended with a warm brown this would look stunning. The slightly pewter like silver is also really pretty and will compliment all sorts of eye shades – I imagine that this would look amazing on green eyes. But a lovely cool toned neutral, but with an edge.
I have to say I absolutely love the dark matte packaging – the top of the palette has a graphic pattern on it in a slightly glossy finish in contrast to the matte. I love that it’s a bit of a change to the cute Topshop main range packaging – it’s a bit edgier and a bit more sophisticated. Overall, as a neutral lover – this collection is a HUGE winner for me. Gorgeous.
The whole Dark Side of Nude collection also includes a couple more nail colours (a deep red and a black with silver sparkle), another eye shadow palette and two lipsticks – a nude and a deep berry red.
