When it comes to nails the beauty world has gone a bit dotty! These are some of the latest high street offering from Maybelline New York and they’re pretty darn fab!
I love the spotty/polka dot nail texture trend – more interesting than plain but not as bling as glitter. I can’t get enough.
The Blue shade is called ‘Shooting Stars’ and the pink is called (the slightly less original) ‘Speckled Pinks’ and both are really pretty shades but on both accounts the colour is slightly sheer – which is needs to be to allow the black and white chunks need to show through and too much pigment would hide them, which would kinda defeat the point.
Both pictures above are two coats and you can see how sheer the colour is – the way around this is to apply a cream colour as a base for it in a matching shade, so a deep blue for the blue and a hot pink for the pink – this will create a base of colour rather than the nail base being at the bottom allowing the polka dot layer to pop more.
What do you think of these new offerings from Maybelline? Loving the polka dot trend or think it might go the way of the crackle nails…
