Nivea’s newest launch has been causing quite a buzz in blog-land recently with the launch of it’s In-shower body moisturiser, so I went on a little mission to hunt it down. Now, it wasn’t exactly hidden or anything like that so ‘hunt it down’ is probably an exaggeration, but I did at first look in the shower gel aisle of Superdrug – which led to the other two shower gel purchases… but more on those in a moment!
The main reason I was pacing the aisles of Superdrug was to find the new In-Shower body moisturiser, which to be honest – I thought would just be a rather good moisturising shower gel. Hence looking in the shower gel aisles, but no – this can be found in the moisturiser aisle. Interesting!
It’s available in two formulas -the normal one (white) and the one for dry skin (blue), I of course couldn’t decide so went for both. At the bargain price (under £3 each) I couldn’t resist. The idea of these is just like a moisturiser you slather it all over, the difference being you do this after cleansing in the shower – so you do need to step away from the direct running water for a moment, apply and allow to soak in for a short time before rinsing off.
The immediate feeling is that skin is left feeling soft and smooth and nicely moisturised. My only area that felt it needed a little something extra was my shins – which are constantly dry. My first impressions were really good – this is a simple, but easy to use time saver that will take out those few minutes I spend each day selecting and slather on a body moisturiser. In particular these would be amazing for regular gym goers to use – quick and easy and no fuss way to keep skin feeling good.
Only downside being that I’m not sure if the moisturising feeling is a long lasting one or just a bit superficial. I was prepping for a fake tan application at the weekend and giving myself a good scrub, when I looked at my skin on my arms and shins it all looked quite dry and flaky, which isn’t normal for me – whilst I do tend to have dry skin when I moisturise every day it does stay balanced and in ok condition. I exfoliated like I was cleaning up a crime scene and still was left with a few dry looking/feeling patches.
Now in all fairness this could perhaps be an after effect of my holiday, although the weather wasn’t great, I was very diligent in applying suncream and moisturiser and definitely didn’t bake in the sun. There is a chance the plane air and some sun might have dried things out, or it might be that whilst the Nivea In Shower is a fab quick fix, I still need that little something extra. Either way, I like this new product to the market – it’s easy to use and does speed things up in the morning!
On the other two shower goodies in the picture – when on the hunt mistakenly in the shower gel aisle I saw these were on offer for 2 for £3 and thought they looked like they would be nice and smell good. I was right, they are and they do – I’ve been using the Melon one this week and it smells amazing. Really clean and fresh and with just enough summery-ness to allow me to ignore the current battering rain. Plus the fact it includes oil is great to give me an extra moisture boost!
Overall, Nivea are currently kicking butt in the shower stakes!
