This little box of four perfectly dark shades from Nails Inc has been sitting on my ‘to try’ shelf for far too long – for some reason I liked how new and perfect it was looking in the neat white box and kept delaying opening it – but the lure of that shade on the left over took my OCD tendencies and I indeed opened the box and gave it a whirl… and the results are mixed…
The four shades in the box are:
Regent Street – the deep red shade
St Martin’s Lane – the pink berry shade
Old Bond Street – The deep purple/blue shade…I’d describe as the perfect Indigo.
Oxford Street – The toffee nude/brown shade.
The one I’m loving, is the Old Bond Street – the colour isn’t easy to describe…according to places it’s sold online it’s described as a deep purple…but I think it’s more blue. So I’m calling it a lovely Indigo shade. It’s somewhere in between blue and purple and manages to be both bright and dark at the same time. Colour wise, it’s flawless (if you love your blue shades…) but formula wise it was a bit of a let-down. It was quite watery and took three coats to get to opaque colour. Then it tended to dry quite matte too – and on my nails is only glossy thanks to a layer of Seche Vite over the top. But because I love this shade…I’ll overlook the down side of the slightly poor application.
Of the other shades, Oxford Street (the brown shade) is probably the most unique of the bunch and also applied the best, with the pinky St Martin’s Lane coming in second.
Regent Street is a lovely colour but not one I don’t have other dupes in the collection of already.
All together it’s a lovely selection of deep and moody winter shades – that are more of a contrast to each other when on the nail than they look in the box – this set would make a fab little gifts for someone for Christmas (or a little self-gift…)!
