Jeans are the number one staple in my wardrobe – whilst of course there are some events they are too casual for, I still think that styled the right way they’re perfectly wearable for a party where dressing up is required. I’m a big fan of casual dressing and not too great when formality is required. I’ll always tend to err on the side of being slightly under-dressed rather than over dressed. Always wanting to dress anything down that touch so it feels more like me. In my opinion there’s nothing worse than being uncomfortable, so when comfort comes first, so do jeans. So this post is all themed around three different ways to style jeans for a party – i.e. how to dress up a pair of jeans.
The jeans I chose are from the New Look Denim Range and I decided to go with one pair of jeans (a dark grey skinny pair) which is a slight dress-down on the typical black skinnies for a night out option. But could easily be switched out for a pair of black instead (in fact I spotted New Look have a black skinny, high-waisted pair that are coated so they’re a bit leather/wet look style that I almost opted for). But for this, the jeans are constant – it’s just the other items that change for each outfit.
The three outfits each have a bit of a theme or statement piece that the rest of the outfit is shaped around… a beaded clutch, a colour pop top or a sequin vest top…
For all looks below, all items are from New Look.
Look One: Textures
This look is probably the one I like the most, it’s quite casual but has some dressy touches with a beaded clutch, animal print shoes and statement necklace. All of which are different patterns or textures, but in similar shades to help them work together. As I said, this is the most casual of the lot – but the heels and the clutch dress it up, so would work for a work to drinks option or just for a more laid back party.
Look Two: Sparkle
This is probably the dressiest of the trio, with a fully sparkle spaghetti strap top being the main item for the look. Paired with a black flowy kimono top to add a layer (it is December after all, it’s rarely roasting warm…) then a pair of contrasting red strappy heels and some earings that play on the red and the black to pull it all together, so it compliments but isn’t too ‘matchy matchy’
Look Three: Festive Red
This is probably the more conservative of the bunch with a high neck peplum top and some pewter peep toe heels, this outfit plays up the grey of the jeans with metallic shades so the shoes, clutch and jacket all work. Then the statement piece is the bright red top with embroidered neckline, topped off with a slick of matching bright red lipstick. If in doubt, add a red lip… that’s pretty much my dress up moto. You can be wearing converse and jeans and a red lip brings it up a notch or five…!
Let me know which of these is your favourite look – I think look one is still mine…but like them all for different situations!
