Ah Spring, my favourite time of year- full of hope and excitement for the warmer months ahead. The sun just needs to show it’s face a little like it has over the past few weeks and the mood of the city just lifts. I love it. Then, along with the sun, comes the gorgeous flowers – just across from my flat is a park just lined with bright yellow daffodils. It’s gorgeous. So what perfect timing to perhaps add a little more floral into your fragrance wardrobe – and this beautiful scent is Dolce by Dolce & Gabbana *.
Not just a beautiful scent, but a lovely bottle too – sort of the ‘grown up’ version of Marc Jacobs Daisy – with the floral lid that looks more like a real flower than a cartoon. Then with the soft mint green tint to the fragrance, this is one very dressing-table worthy bottle. There’s something in the scent that I find very nostalgic, it reminds me of something but I can’t put my finger on what it is. It’s very floral perfume, but it does have a freshness too that makes it perfect for this time of year. With top notes of Neroli leaf and Papaya blossom. Heart notes of narcissus, white amaryllis and water lily and base notes of cashmeran and musk. I have no clue what cashmeran is – perhaps something along the lines of cashmere.. I don’t know.
But what I do know is that this is the sort of scent that makes me want to don a floral dress and ride a pretty pashley bike around with my hair blowing in the wind. Of course, in real life – this isn’t going to happen. But you know when a scent just gives you a feeling? That’s what this one does – like Spring! It just feels lovely. It also makes me repeatedly hear the words ‘Dolce, Dolce, Dolce’ in my head in an Italian accent. Which makes me think of ice cream.
A very pretty scent, that I’ve switching out with some of my slightly more wintery ones – just a sign of Summer ahead! Exciting times.
