Polishes with the finish of Easter Eggs… the perfect post for Easter Sunday no? Of course, Easter isn’t really just about the four day weekend and over-indulging in chocolate – but for the sake of this totally shallow and beauty focussed blog we’re going to talk about these three nail varnishes and how perfect they are for Easter. These are three of the shades from the Models Own Speckled Egg collection – each with a pastel base colour and black matte glitter throughout. Creating a speckled effect on the nails – they’re not the first to do this, with Illamasqua (amongst others) creating this look previously. But these are the latest in the more afforable market and have some pretty cute colours in the collection.
Finish wise, they are quite sheer – they do have to be, if the pigment was thicker it would block out the effect of the black. But if you don’t fancy tonnes of layers, you could always do a base of a cream colour that’s a match for the polish shade and then layer the speckle over the top. Each swatch above shows two coats and you can see how on the yellow and the turquoise especially it is a little sheer.
The three colours shown are Lilac ‘Swan’, Yellow ‘Goose’ and Turquoise ‘Magpie’. My favourite is definitely Magpie, followed closely by Swan… I’ve never loved yellow, but for those that suit it this is a nice mid-shade yellow colour!
What do you think of these speckled finish? Like them… or prefer an edible sort of mini egg…?!
