The Bobbi Brown Surf & Sand Collection is the Summer offering from the neutral lovers favourite brand. It has two core pieces, the palettes – one in shades of gold and brown (the ‘sand’ palette) another in similar shades with some adding pinks, greens and blue (the surf palette). On first assumption, the brown ‘Sand’ offering is likely to be more my ‘palette of choice’ but in practice I am really loving the blend of neutrals in the one shown here – the ‘Surf’ palettte. There’s also a pretty cheek highlighter/blusher combination, a bronze eyeliner and a couple of creamy lip shades.
In the face shot picture, I’m wearing the eyeshadow palette and highlighter. I’m not wearing the lip colours & eyeliner – they’re swatched above. The coral lip colour is a gorgeous shade – called ‘Peach Sorbet’, it’s a sheer lip colour. Basically the Bobbi Brown version of a Revlon lip butter – sheer and hydrating and perfect for Summer days. The bronze eye pencil is also lovely – I much prefer a brown or grey shade to a black as find black generally a bit too harsh on my complexion. A touch of bronze is perfection – it’s lovely and smooth and easy to blend too. The darker/brown toned lip shade is a lot more nude on than it looks – the shade is Summer Nude and it is lovely, but my personal preference leans towards the more coral tone overall. Although this is a good one if you like the ‘no make-up/make-up’ look.
The highlighter is a pretty one – this is the Pink Brightening Blush shade and is definitely has a healthy dose of shimmer. So a good one for a Summer evening maybe, but I’d suggest go gentle in the day or else the sheen might be a bit too much! But just a dab delivers some pretty pink sheen and a touch of glow – there’s also a bronze option in the collection.
My top picks from the collection – the Surf Palette and Peach Sorbet sheer lip colour. These will both be some of my keep it simple beach beauty choices for honeymoon.
