Ciate first launched it’s collection in partnership with Olivia Palermo earlier this year. In all honesty at the time it didn’t really grab me. Sure, I love Olivia’s style and would love to steal her wardrobe (not that any of it would fit me…) but the collection just didn’t really grab me or excite me in any way. So come Autumn/Winter when a new collection came around I wasn’t necessarily expecting anything too exciting. But in actual fact, it’s a pretty gorgeous range – featuring a couple of nail colours (separate post on these to come) plus four lipstick shades that are every bit as classy and fabulous as the lady who’s name you will find on them. So the Ciate Olivia Palermo Lipstick collection is worth a closer look…
The four shades are all the sort of ‘classy capsule wardrobe’ type of shades you can expect. Nothing outlandish as I would expect. Whilst Olivia has her own distinct style it’s quite classic and polished (although she has been known to step outside of he box…for example her wedding outfit choice was anything but traditional but still totally classy). There are three pretty subtle variations of a nude and a deep red wine shade. So you can (hopefully) find the right nude of the bunch and then the deeper shade to get the classic day to night lip option covered.
See, even the names just ooze with class and feel all luxury. The packaging backs this up – shiny gold, but not overly in your face. Withe the signature Ciate bow on the top. The outer cardboard packaging has a bit of a leather-esque finish to it too, just as a little added touch of luxe.
The three nude shades are all quite close in shade -with just slightly differing tones and intensity. Truffle is the pinkest of the group, Cashmere more cool toned and the Praline slightly more nude/brown toned. Truffle is my personal favourite and the most flattering on my skin tone – but this will very much vary from person to person.
Velveteen is a classic deep red that on one swipe is slightly brighter but can be built to a deeper tone with a layer or two.
The textures of all of these are creamy and smooth and generally rather lovely. Staying power (I wore Truffle for a day of meetings) is ok – it needs touching up every couple of hours. If you want it to last I’d go full liner/lipstick/blotting approach to application to give it a hand. Plus still tote it around with you just to be sure.
All in all, a collection of shades that is best described as classy. As you would expect from an Olivia Palermo led collection.
