Bobbi Brown Telluride {Collection}

Ok, so grantted this post is a little late in day for what is essentially a summer collection. BUT, the shades of it really do lend themselves rather perfectly to an Indian summer type of feel so I figured, why not mention them now?! There’s a couple of shades in the bunch that I have found myself reaching for time and time again – and one of the things I find Bobbi Brown does really well is making collections that are timeless and not just seasonal. So, there fore it’s totally ok for me to be talking about the Bobbi Brown Telluride collection when it’s basically past summertime…

Firstly, a little introduction to the collection. It’s all about a ‘warm, tawny glow’. Which does sound rather dreamy right? There are a couple of ‘key’ bits to the collection  – the Limited Edition palette, the shimmer brick highlighter, the creamy cheek glow and the lip trio. The lip trio is probably the ‘newest’ item in the collection so I’ll chat those first. There are three shade variations, and I have two of them here – I have Sunset Pink and Twilight Glow. The pinky colour being Sunset Pink and the browny shade being Twilight Glow. Each trio includes a lip liner, a sheer lip colour and a gloss. To create a three part lip look – where of course you could use them all layered, or each individually, depending what look you fancy. They come as a trio for £39. Shade wise, Sunset Pink is my pick, as Twilight Glow just doesn’t really work for my skin tone. IMG_9468

A little look at the LE palette – I’m wearing a combination of three shades in the palette in the photo below. I decided to use the palest (white on the left in the photo) the warm matte pink shade (second from right in photo) and the brown shimmer (third from left in photo) to create an every day eye shadow look. No, it’s not going to win awards for the most out-there look in the world, but this sort of universally wearable shade palette is what Bobbi Brown is the expert in – and I like the mixture of matte and shimmer textures to add a little interest.

I have mixed feelings about Bobbi Brown shimmer bricks. One, I adore them because it was one of the first ever high end make-up items I ever had (thank you Aunty Barbara) so every time I see one it brings back the warm fuzzy feeling of that first special item of make-up and the buzz of having something ‘designer’ when I was a teen. But on the other hand, in all honesty they’re just not products I reach for as find the shimmer level just a bit too intense. As pretty as they are and as much as I wish it wasn’t the case… But, if you do like shimmer more than me then this is a lovely blend of summer sunset shades from bronze to champagne with some pretty warm pinks in the mix too. It’s another limited edition so get on it if you want this one. IMG_9472IMG_9474
So overall, the collection is a warm glowy one that is ideally for that late summer into Autumn phase that we’re in (PLEASE drag out the Indian summer feeling a little longer…). Very much every day wearable and easy to use for day or night. My favourite from the collection is the Sunset Pink lip gloss actually (wearing this below) as it’s one I find flattering and adds just the right amount of colour to the lips.

    I’m not sure how I feel about the shimmer bricks, I think I’d go for Hourglass Ambient Lighting over those (not a big shimmer person!). But the eyeshadow palette and those lip colours look absolutely divine. They would definitely help warm up the face and keep that Indian Summer rolling.
