Well, well – isn’t January already whizzing by?! How are we mid-month already?! I’m sure it was only yesterday we were talking about Christmas and now here we are the middle of the first month of 2015. Madness. It also means it’s time for the latest update on my #AboutFace Simple Skincare project – and I’ll launch right into telling you that I have REALLY starting to notice a difference – not just in my skincare routine. Which is obviously a big part of it – but it’s the other changes. Firstly – water. Water really is such a vital part of overall having decent skin in my opinion. Of course, which products you choose to use is really important too – but lots and lots of water, post a season of excess especially. Makes a huge difference.
This week (actually, just tonight as I’m writing this as I’ve gotten home from the event) I went along to the Simple #AboutFace event that was held in one of the AMAZING apartments at the Ham Yard Hotel. If you ever want to get major flat/home envy then head to the Ham Yard Hotel – the whole thing is stunning. This apartment though… amazing. Downside being that the bathroom was bigger than my living room. Tad depressing. But equally, awesome to be there.
The set up for the event was really cool – each room was themed around one of the not so good for your skin aspects of December – plus some Simple products all over each room to help remind you of which products are around to help combat it and do the whole #AboutFace turnaround (see… double meaning, January is ABOUT face and it’s all about turning the condition of your face ‘about’ too…clever folks). The different ‘bad face’ things being: sugar (pretty much worst thing ever for skin), lack of sleep/busy schedules, not taking make-up off properly (guilty!) and cold weather making skin sensitive. As someone who suffers from not only a Rudolf nose, but bright red all-over face I can vouch for the last one.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who felt my face was looking far from it’s best at Christmas time… in fact, you need to have a little peek at my second video diary at the bottom of this post where you can see EXACTLY where my skin was around mid December – when I filmed the video totally make-up free.
For me, this week I’ve been really focussing on cleansing properly. It’s one of the things I noted in December – I’m actually pretty good as taking my make-up off my face – what I suck at, is taking my eye make-up off properly. Tending to leave that, forget about it then only realise when I have panda eyes all down my face post shower the next day. Not a good look and I’m pretty sure it contributes to my eyes tending to look a bit blood shot – which whilst isn’t skincare, is definitely about my face and something I’d like to nip in the bud so to speak.
So cleansing regime coming under fire it is. Now, for me – I don’t tend to use face wipes for actual face cleansing. What I do sometimes though is use one immediately as I’m through the door from a day out and about in London to just freshen up and lift off a bit of the grime of the City. Then, when it comes to a ‘proper’ cleanse I’ve been going for a three step from Simple Skincare – the Moisturising Facial Wash, Soothing Toner, Eye Make-Up Remover.
