So far the UK winter hasn’t been as harsh as it can be, yet despite this I seem to have eternally dry and chapped lips. Which does not work well when you fancy sporting a bold matte lip… as chapped lips + bold matte lip = PRUNE LIPS. Not a good look and one I am keen to avoid. So, I’ve gotten into a better routine with lip balm, but also I’ve added in a scrub to the mix. I use this before I apply any lipstick – matte or otherwise, as the perfect smoothing/softening prep. Plus I use it along with face and hair masks as part of a pamper routine. This is the chapped lips essential – Fresh Sugar Lip Polish.
It’s a pretty simple product. A sort of balm that’s thick with sugar scrubby bits so that combined you have the scrub of the sugar and the balm/moisture too. Which means you end up left with smooth lips as the scrub removes any dry/dead bits and the balm leaves them hydrated and looking a bit plumper too. Also, it tastes of Coca Cola. Well, in my opinion is does although technically it doesn’t say that’s the flavour or anything. Maybe it’s just the brown sugar taste.
This is an absolute saviour if you want to try a long lasting lip or a matte colour but don’t want to have that feeling of every last drop of moisture being sucked out of your lips. At least you can start with a soft and smooth base before you apply your lip colour.
My top tip is scrub before make-up as it’s quite messy. Include as part of your skincare routine and make sure you clean any excess sugar off and apply a balm to soak in after for the full soft effect. But trust me, adding a lip scrub to your routine – winter chapped lips will thank you for it.
