Instant Effects Instant Lip Review

First things first, I have no visions of me having a Kylie Jenner pout as a result of a simple beauty product. That really is the sort of thing that can only happen with the help of a few syringes rather than a gloss and some clever lip liner. But, I do like the idea of having a slightly more plump and smooth pout so wanted to give this Instant Effects Instant Lip Product a go as soon as it arrived.

As you can probably see, my lips are nothing special. They’re not non-existant but they are very pale and not especially full. The above is with make-up on my face but nothing on my lips. A little about the Instant Effects Instant Lip product – it promises to increase the volume of lips by 20% in 2 minutes, it reduces lines and gives a smoother appearance for up to 4 days and (most importantly for me) it promises no stinging or aggravation.

This is what ‘sold’ me on the product – I have a few stinging based products that deliver a plumper pout via the help of that stinging/tingly sensation that whilst it doesn’t quite get to the point of hurting… can’t really be good for you?! But I can 100% vouch for this as not hurting or stinging one bit. It basically just applies like a light balm, it’s not sticky like a gloss and there’s zero sting.

The below shot was taken after wearing the product for a couple of minutes. Nope, my lips aren’t pillowy and plump, but it would be unrealistic to expect this. I feel like they have developed a little more colour so they’re not as pale as before. Whilst they’re not totally line free they do feel a little smoother. Whilst I wasn’t necessarily blown away by the plumping effect of this, the thing I do like is that they feel smooth and soft and hydrated. It essentially does what I want a quality lip balm to do – leaves them in better all round condition than before. If I’m wearing a lipstick (not a matte one) I’d use this as a prep for it. On a day to day basis though I’m really liking this in the place of a regular lip balm.

I hate plumping products which sting, I just can’t leave them on my lips for longer than a second! This sounds like a nice alternative though, but it’s quite pricey for what it is, which puts me off.

Unfortunately it didn’t have hardly any effect on my lips and I think for the price it should have 🙁

Is it supposed to have nothing in it and just be a fancy brush?
Because I just opened mine, and nothing is coming out of it. No matter how much I pump the bottom.

Hi Helen, Nope – it’s definitely meant to have something in it! A sort of clear gel/gelly texture. Maybe a faulty one you need to send back?

I bought one on the plane to Spain that was also empty, luckily I had the receipt so they exchanged it for another one.
Its just like a liquid gloss does nothing for my non existent aging lips! Wish I had asked for my money back.

This is not anything like a stinging plumper. It is rubbish just a really bad lip gloss with a high price.
