A new month always has me thinking a bit about where I’m at, what I want to do and plans and goals for the month to come. Normally these would be things I keep to myself, possibly even just in my head. But in the effort to be more accountable I wanted to share them so I can look back and see what I do and don’t manage to do over the new few weeks. I love that it’s fully-fledged Spring – something about this time of year really brightens my mood and outlook on everything. After what feels like a long winter I have that ‘can conquer the world if I want to’ buzz back a bit so want to make the most of it!
Try a yoga class
Something I’ve wanted to do since the start of the year but not gotten around to it yet. It’s still very much something I want to do. I have a ‘shortlist’ of two places near me. A yoga studio and an aerial yoga place. Tempted to give them both a try and see how I feel after the classes.
Blog Every Day
A big ask when I’m well and truly out of practice of daily blogging and generally doing 3-4 a week at the moment. But in April I want to properly flex my blogging muscles and get back to doing it daily – even if just for April – and see how it feels and perhaps if it makes a difference to traffic. One of things I found is that increasing from daily to multiple times daily (this was my original plan when I started blogging full time) doesn’t massively impact my stats. Which is mainly thanks to my back catalogue of posts bringing in those search hits. But learning this is one of the reasons why I dropped back to lower frequency rather than my previous daily approach.
I have begun a process of having a ‘proper’ Spring Clean of my stuff. Over the last couple of years I’ve really switched my mindset a bit from one of ‘YAY STUFF’ to wanting to go back to basics a bit more. I’m not saying I’m on my way to being all minimalist – I’m a long way off that. But I’ve started by clearing out a whopping 10 boxes of stuff to send to my old workplace for a Red Nose Day sale they held. I reckon I still have a chunk to go in terms of getting rid of stuff too. Along with a massive wardrobe clear out I’m realising how good it feels to have less rather than more. It’s a mindset I want to continue for sure so I want to really try and minimise the sheer volume of stuff.
Be More Proactive
This is quite a general point. Sort of tricky to pin point every meaning of it. But I want to be more pro-active. In work, in my own wellbeing, in friendships & relationships. I can be quite ‘go with the flow’ which is many ways is a great way to be. But my inner control freak would like to take things in my own hands a bit more.
Make time to read more
I have a backlog of books I want to finish. Ones I’ve started but thanks to my internet-brain (hello, short attention span) I seem to struggle to keep my nose in a book for all that long anytime I’m not by a pool or on a beach. Funnily enough the beach/pool situation isn’t my standard mode of life so I need to try and carve out time to read. Something I want to do in the daytime as I find if I do so at night I end up falling asleep before I hit chapter two… so allowing myself time to read in the daytime is on the cards for April.
