Fairtrade cosmetics launch

As of 24th June, the Fairtrade Foundation has put it’s special stamp on a number of beauty companies including Boots, Bubble & Balm, Essential Care, Lush and Neal’s Yard. To deserve the stamp of approval from the Foundation, each of the products must contains one or more Fairtrade certified ingredient such as cocoa butter, shea nut butter, sugar or brazil nut oil, benefiting disadvantaged producers from countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Of the brands that have secured the approval of Fairtrade I have tried two; Boots Extracts Sugar Scrub and the Neals Yard Frankincense Moisturiser (although I haven’t posted about this one).

By using Fairtrade products you can give your skin and your conscience a nice ethical glow, knowing that the products are sourced from farmers that in turn can reap the benefits, plus an extra premium to re-invest in the community.
