Mascara Monday: Covergirl Exact Lights Waterproof (blue eyes)

This is one of the items that I asked my parents to pick up for me on their trip to America earlier this year. I’ve only just gotten around to testing it as it seems a waste to open a new mascara when I have so many already on the go and nowhere near finished/expired – despite being a mascara fiend – I thought I would wait a while.

If you look closely at the wand you can just about see the blue-tinged shimmer
that I think is meant to bring out blue eye colours…

Unfortunately after all the build up to using it I was really disappointed. The brush looked nice when I opened it, but when I applied it made little or no difference to my lashes – huge fail.

Below is a shot of my eye with about 3-4 coats of this mascara on. I didn’t post one of my eye without as there is hardly a difference. The mascara is only on the top lashes.

As it’s waterproof it’s also quite tough to get off – although I haven’t tested it’s waterproof-ness yet so can’t comment on that. I don’t plan to continue using this (which is a little ironic considering I held of using it because I didn’t want to ‘waste’ it!) but I want long fluttery lashes and this just doesn’t deliver.

I have one more Covergirl mascara to test (the purple tube one – can’t remember it’s name right now) and hope it’s good. Although since I’m now going to New York in a few weeks I will pick up some others if there are ones that are worth it? Any America beauty recommendations welcome below.

i’ve tried this product before (although i used the one for brown eyes) and you’re right: MASSIVE FAIL. it didn’t make my eyes look any brighter and the didn’t really do anything for my lashes. it’s the equivalent of clear brow gel: it grooms, but that’s about it.

I’m very surprised because I’ve heard a lot of excitement about this mascara. What a shame….hopefully you’ll pick up some other good ones across the pond.

I got this mascara too when I was in the USA earlier on this year. I was dissapointed too! Didn’t make any difference at all to my blue eyes and wasn’t even great as a mascara!

I love CG lash blast, probably my fave mascara EVER. Also, NYC blush sticks are lovely, and obviously NYX products! Also, Hard Candy baked blusher (I got the light pink one) is beautiful. Revlon is SO cheap out there too!
