Round up/catch up

A bit of a dip in the number of posts recently due to a few days away in New York (which was amazing) so to catch up a bit I thought I would do a bit of a round-up ramble about various beauty things that I want to mention. Then I catch up a little bit and get back into the swing of this blogging malarkey, post-holiday!

Travel Beauty

So, with a trip to New York keeping the weight and suitcase space free for a few purchases was pretty essential. So I raided my box of travel sizes and samples that I have accumulated – these are so helpful, keep hold of the magazine freebies and the tester sachets – so much easier than decanting larger bottles or trying to lug the full sized ones around. I took small bottles of Pantene Aqua Light Shampoo* and Conditioner that I picked up at the Clothes Show. Love this product range and how it goes with my hair.

I took a stripped back make-up bag. Thanks to the Urban Decay Naked Palette* I had more than all the shadows I would need. I do love this palette but I partly feel that it’s still quite big for travel and it would be easier to take a smaller quad or something.  I did take two foundations – Clinique Anti Blemish* and the new YSL Teint Radiance*. Clinique has been my go-to foundation for a few months now so couldn’t leave home without it. I recently started testing the YSL and first impressions are that I love the finish, smell and coverage but find it doesn’t last as well as the Clinique.

Testing, Testing

I recently tried the infamous Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers* for the first time – after being a cheap-curler user since my teens. On first use I wasn’t convinced they were worth the hype – they just didn’t feel any different – but having tried them a few more times I’m starting to come around. I will continue using them and see if I can form a proper opinion.

I’ve been trying out a range of Dermalogica products* and have been doing so for long enough to give them a proper review. The basic round up is that some are lovely (must haves) and some are pretty average. I also find that I prefer the Special Cleansing Gel to the one suggested in my skin diagnosis.

I’ve also been on a mission trying out various fake-tans. I finally got my hands on St Moriz – I bought both the spray and the mousse – and so far I’m pretty impressed. I’ve only tried the spray and haven’t heard great things about it but I tried it on my legs (easy to hide if it goes wrong) and it turned out ok – quite dark but even and easy to apply. I’ve also started trying some of the new formula St Tropez* – which has to be my all time favourite brand. The new formula stands out as not smelling as bad but with the same natural colour. I need to try it a couple more times (I have different versions) and then will do a proper review.

I may have gone a little overboard in New York with the nail varnishes – I have a whopping 17 that I have brought back with me (in my defence some are minis!) so apologies in advance for a huge number of nail of the days posts coming soon!
