Salon Review: The Beauty Lounge W1

This Saturday I enjoyed the ultimate girly day. Breakfast and shopping with one of my best friends followed by a wonderfully relaxing facial.

The facial was just what I needed – as the weather starts to change it’s nice to give it a bit of extra care and pampering before the cold air, wind and rain combined with heating causes havoc.

Before even getting into the treatment I was completely taken by the design of the salon – it’s basically how I want my whole flat to look. Girly, but not *too* girly – the perfect balance of light and airy and vintage chic. The treatment room was lined with posters of old Vogue covers – I need to track some of these down for my bedroom walls.

I want one of these in my flat!

I know the decor of a salon isn’t necessarily the most important factor in a treatment for some – but I find it really sets the tone for the sort of treatment. Some salons have that ‘clinical’ feel and others have that ‘girly/kitsch’ feel and others go down the rose-petals and windpipes kinda vibe. The vintage chic style of Beauty Lounge is – for me – the ideal.

The treatments I went for was the ‘signature’ facial using all organic products. I tend to be a bit on the fence about the scent of organic products but these all smelt lovely. The treatment was a series of lotions and potions applied and massaged one after the other combined with a fantastic arm, decolette and shoulder massage. Honestly can’t get enough of the massage bit – so relaxing.

One of the aspects of the treatment that stood out to me was the fact that it incorporated scrubbing and moisturising the lips as well as the whole face. I have never had a facial that includes the lips and having now had one, it seems a little bizarre that they don’t all do that!?

After is was all over my skin felt soft and moisturised – but not red like if often does after facials. As relaxing and lovely as facials are, a full hour on constant poking and prodding can my my fairly sensitive skin go a bit pink. My skin just felt soft and clean and I wasn’t even that embarrassed to wander around Soho after the facial completely make-up free.

The day after, my skin still felt soft and lovely and I went easy on the slap to make the most of the pampering factor – I didn’t need to put on as much moisturiser either.

Gorgeous facial in a gorgeous salon which is in a great location for a shopping day treat.

Sounds great! You’re so right about the lip scrub though…Why don’t they do that?!?! Such a simple a thing, but easily forgotten.
