Max Factor Max Effect

I’ve been having a bit of a play with a couple of Max Factor’s ‘Max Effect’ products: a trio of eye shadows in ‘Rainforest’ (02) and Lip Gloss in ‘Nude Brown’ (05).

Max Factor Max Effect Gloss Cube ‘Nude Brown’

On first glance I wasn’t really sure about the colours of either of these products. A terracotta, green and sandy gold eyeshadow trio just didn’t jump out at me as very wearable for my skin tone and generally, brown lip shades aren’t flattering as pink for me.

Of the two, the lip colour is the one I am most wrong about. It’s basically just a ‘my lips but better’ shade, that’s nude but not too brown toned. Plus the texture of this is really lovely – very creamy and light – it doesn’t feel like it’s just sitting on top of the lips, more like it’s moisturising but adding a hint of colour at the same time. The colour is very subtle – the swatch below was quite heavy. It’s not as creamy in the tube as it looks like it’s going to be – it’s a super natural slick of translucent gloss rather than a cream.

The eyeshadow colours are unusual and whilst I don’t think they suit me I do really like the shades. The sandy gold is the one that stands out to me as most wearable – the colour pay off is not bad, but not amazing. The swatches below are about two swipes to get the colour to show up strong enough on camera. They are super smooth and not at all chalky. The quality for the price of these shadow trios is really good, I’m keen to check out some of the colours that might work a bit better for my colouring – I’ve spied some ice-cream like pastel shades that look interesting!

Have you tried any of the Max Factor Max Effect goodies?? If so – what colours should I look out for?

@Emma – no, the lipgloss isn’t at all sticky! I was amazed, it literally just felt like a nice light lip balm rather than gloss!
