Essie Splash of Grenadine Dupe

I had a feeling this might be a dupe for the lovely Essie Splash of Grenadine when I first tried it – but despite lusting after it for ages, I didn’t actually own Splash of Grenadine… so being the devoted beauty blogger I am, I went and bought it, to see if it’s a dupe or not.

Yep, I handed over £10 for a nail varnish I was pretty sure I already had an identical one of… purely to see if I was right about this dupe. Personally, I think I was totally right…but will let you decide.

On the left we have the new Bourjois 10 day colour in shade 26 (as seen here) and on the right we have Essie ‘Splash of Grenadine’. With flash and without to make it nice and accurate in different lighting.

Artificial Light
Natural Light
In the bottle, I’d say the Bourjois could be a touch darker than the Essie, but there’s not much in it… I smell a dupe!
So on to the swatches – still in the same order, Bourjois on the left, Essie on the right. I say pretty darn similar.
Natural Light
Artificial Light
Overall, I call dupe. Even better than just a dupe – I actually think the Bourjois is better, it’s thicker and more pigmented – the Essie took about 4 coats to reach same level of opacity as the Bourjois did in two.
What do you think? Dupe or no dupe?

Bourjois was a PR sample. Essie bought by me.
