Neal’s Yard Cosmetics

Neal’s Yard, famous for their organic health and beauty products – mostly skincare – have branched out to launch a cosmetics line. The brand has a really strong heritage in the skincare arena, but cosmetics is a new field and for a brand to launch into a new area like this is a bold move!

I’ve been lucky to have a look at the range so here are some little pictures and my thoughts for your perusal!

L-R: Fig, Goji Berry, Damask Rose

I’ll start with the lip glosses – I have to be honest that the colours of these didn’t really jump out at me as something I was excited to try, the colours are fairly neutral in the packaging but texture wise when I used them I was more impressed than I expected to be! Although the texture wasn’t totally consistent across the shades as you will see from the swatches.

The Fig shade was a little lumpy with the pigment, although when on the lips it doesn’t look as uneven as it does when swatched. My personal favourite shade is Damask Rose – the shade is lighter that the name implies…if that makes sense?!

Next up are the pressed eyeshadows – these were the products I was most keen to try, the colours are a neutral lovers dream! I do love a shimmery neutral shadow…and these are just lovely. The shades are pretty, smooth and pigmented – they feel silky to use and blend. My favourite is ‘Barley’, the golden shimmer shade. Although Cocoa is also gorgeous!

L-R: Silver Birch, Barley, Cocoa

Now we have the Mineral Bronzer and Blushers… I find it interesting that the stickers showing the % of organic and % of minerals for each of these and how they differ. The bronzer is a pretty bronzey shimmer shade – so more of a highlighter bronzer than one to add a tan, and the blusher is a very pretty rosey pink shade with no shimmer.

Of the two, I’m most impressed by the smoothness and pigment of the blusher shade. The bronzer would also make a lovely eyeshadow…

Price wise, the eyeshadows are £11.50, blushers/bronzers £16.50 and lip glosses are £9.50 – so in the region of the MAC price range. If you are interested in organic/mineral products then these are definitely worth a look but don’t expect 100% organic products as they aren’t – but they are lovely quality and nice shades.
